I have an extra catalytic converter, I have heard there is a company in portland paying around 50$ per cat because of the rare metal in them? Anyone know of such a place?

Not sure, But I was watching the news the other day and people are actually
stealing catalytic converters off cars and selling them.

I heard people are using cordless sawz-alls to hack out cats and stealing material on construction sites. Thats just lame. Why do people have to do that?

As far as I knew catalytic converters were made from platinum coated ceramic material. And Platinum is expensive. I would call a couple of scrap yards and see what they are paying. I've heard anywhere from $50-$300 for a junk cat, depending on size.

I sold my cats off of my SS for $100 apiece...

the reason they're so valuable to scrappers and the likes are because they contain palladium, rhodium, platinum, and occasionally cerium, manganese and nickel

honestly they're probably worth three times as much as I sold them for for those who actually extract the metals, but not knowing how to do so and making a quick $200 isn't bad to me.
