Ok guys so the other day my rear main just decided to leak like crazy so I feel its time for a 350 to go in its place. What I'm going to do is just get a basic 350 built that came from 89 or up. One piece rear. So far what I'm planning on doing is to have them put a lt4 hot cam in. I want to stay with my tpi for now. So I will just be upgrading to the bigger injectors and all the other stuff needed for the 350.I plan on getting headers shortly after the engine is broke in. The question is what else do you guys think I should be upgrading right off the bat? This will all be in about a month or so.

It appears a favorite injector is the ford/bosch/blue24lb injectors. But thats one tad higher then stock and will need ecm adjustment

What heads do you plan on running?
roller lifters?
See about getting a wind-tray in the bottom.
double roller TC

Other then going all crazy inside with forged stuff and a cam. Most of the parts can be added on later w/o removing to much.

If he has his way, he will need to change his screen name to 347 eater. I recommend the ever popular 4.3 liter blazer swap Tim. It will help you appreciate hondas more. Razz

I plan to start with stock heads, then I'll move up to a set of afr's in the near future. The lt4 hot cams are roller cams as the stock cam is, so yes on the roller lifters. The inside stuff is staying stock to cut costs I think unless I find out I can afford it. I just need the engine asap since this is my only running car.

LOL. My 19 year old engine will never have a hard time taking a honda out. And I would hope the 347 stroker will take my Iroc out.

So you want to put a roller V8 in your camaro? The vortec heads can be purchased NEW from a chevy dealer for about $250/head. My dad did this to his 87 Silverado. That and the 4bbl stager intake manifold. Its got some decent power thats for sure.

Ya I know they can produce some decent power with those heads but I plan on running a set of afr's and a hsr once its broke in down the road. But thanks for the suggestion''s guys. Keep em coming guys. My plan to start with is to just get the engine in the car. Then I'll save and put the high end heads and injection system on there. I just need the new engine.

I meant roller rockers rather then lifters Doh! I gotta start proof reading what I type.

But either way, rockers can be added later.

So yea, unless your going to boost it, or do some forged stuff. Just find ya a block and get at it.

The only thing to toss in here is...

With the hot cam, the lift is enough that you going to have to at have the valve-guides cut down to handle the lift. So plan machine shop time accordingly in your plans.

Really? The lift is only .474/.501. I Will need the valve's ground down for that?

as far as i was reading too, the LT4 hotcam really isn't that spectacular. You may be better off going with lunati or elsewhere.

Does anyone have the flow numbers for the vortecs?

generally anything above about .475-.485" lift will need some machine work on the valve guides.

Camshaft, Hydraulic Roller Tappet, Advertised Duration 275/ 280, Lift .474/ .501, Chevy 1986-95, 5.7L, Each

Maybe its just the lt1 hot cam? Doesn't say. Its listed as a lt4 in the catalog under the tpi/lt1/ls section. Its not saying that online. either way That is the cam I think I'm starting off with.
