After 3 years of searching I finally bought a 4x4 truck. If you had asked me a month ago if I'd get a Chevy I would have said, no. But I ended up buying a black 2002 Chevy 2500HD crew cab short box 4x4 with the Duramax. It's in mint condition with only 65K miles. What a nice truck! You would never guess is was a diesel if you didn't watch the tachometer. It is civilized! And that's what sold me.
It has an Edge Juice with Attitude and 4" turbo back exhaust so there's not much left for me to modify. It also has an extra 60 gallon fuel tank with tool box in the bed. Perfect for the long hauls that I do every summer. Now I can sell the 2WD 2000 Ford Powerstroke I bought a year ago. And the 2000 Jeep Cherokee will be going too.
Well, I off to see what the 'RACE' mode is all about. I put it in race mode for a few seconds on the way home and did a light throttle pull from a stop sign. HOLY COW!!! What a difference from stock! I didn't dare go any deeper in the throttle since the road was wet and I was afraid of lighting up the BFG mudders. |

Those trucks are fun.
My step-dad had an '02 d-max with the hypertech programmer and I seriously think it was as fast as my firebird, while it was towing the boat behind it!
I'd love to do a d-max swap into an older muscle car _________________

its true! i got smoked by one of those things that was lifted and hauling a quad in the bed. Granted my car is pretty slow so it wasn't that impressive, but it sure put me in my place...
hence my signature.

Congrats on the DMax!
Be gentle with the tuner, the engine will hold up but the tranny my develop issues. Check out http://dieselplace.com/forum/ you will find everything you ever wanted to know about your truck.
The one problem the early dmax ( LB7 ) have involves the injectors. GM extended the engine warranty on my 03 to 200K miles becuase of this.
Enjoy 20 mpg and pulling whatever you want |
