ok.. so as some of you know.. i sent my car into maaco in mid january..
finally i got the bushings and all that thanks to Alphius and Top Down Solutions..
i was totally happy when my grandpa called and said it was done.. but there were some spots taht needed touch-ups.. then... the bad news came.. they had parked the car out there for not even 4 hours up front before he got there.. and some idiot knicked the fender.. and door
here's some pics of the good sides ..
and the horrible damage one old man can do to ruin the day
Well.. now i have to wait till about next friday to get it back.. but on a good note (assuming les schwab didnt' lie) i should have my Z06 rims.. they need to verify that they wont' rub and will fit right (never gave an offset but they said it was between 0-15) and they were worried that 17X9.5 wouldn't fit.. so i gotta wait till monday to hear about that.. so if anyone has input on that please feel free... thought a 0-15 offset was just that no matter the rim size.. but i'm still a newbe to the car world[/img] |

that sux, about the scratch but the rest of the ride looks good. How much did they charge ya 4 everything? i seen ya @ the auto-x in your grey camaro, (assuming that was you) but i was always workin the course when u pulled up and chilled. the last race i didnt drive my bird, cuz it failed tech so i was co-driving my buddys red 86 corolla GTS. _________________ 1991 Firebird L03 T-5 |

i didn't get to make it to the autocross this last time.. this one was in paint and the other one is having trouble if i go too slow around cornors or if i stop (guessing vaccum leak somewhere)
all and all i think they said $1800 or so to fix the front and paint it all.. maybe slightly more.. but once all is said and done and they fix everything.. |

Tim, 305302eater has C6 Z06 rims. You could ask him what size he went with. _________________

Backspace is what you should be more concerned with. The width of the wheel and the offset are what determines the backspacing. The offset is how far the mounting surface is from the wheel's centerline - positive toward the street and negative toward the car, and backspacing is the result measured from the inside. I don't remember offhand what backspace we require, but it's in the neighborhood of 5". Check out this thread on wheel fitment, it has some good examples...
http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/suspension-chassis/345560-questions-about-custom-wheels.html?highlight=10+inch+rims
My C5-Z06 replicas are 17 X 8.5 with a 15mm offset, or .59" (1" = 25.4mm), centerline on 8.5 is 4.25, add the positive offset and I have 4.84" backspace.
Except for the flaw, that paint looks awesome, when all finished, you'll have one of the better looking rides in the crew. |
