				| i was reading the laws on having them.. i wanted to put a billet grill on my car and i didn't want to make it look bad having that put on.. it say's (assuming i read right) that if your vehicle doesn't have a spot there for the front plate, you don't have to have one.. do you think they'd cut a break? or would they simpley say go put one on? |

Worst case, they give you a fix-it ticket and you have to put it on and go to court. Best case they like the car, you give them a good excuse for not having one, and you drive away with a warning. I've had both cases happen to me.

Fix your info so it gives a location. The above is for washington state. _________________ E30

				| do they make a good looking plate holder that i could put on the front end of my car like they have for the 4th gens?.. i think it'd look tacky having bars going up to the plate but if it's going to save me some money.. and ruining my deferal then i'll put it on... |

Do you live in washington? If you do, the front tabs are not required to be put on the front. I've seen several people including my friends bend the top and bottom of the plate to make it skinnier. They then put this skinny plate where it isn't such an eyesore. _________________ E30

Yea it says "any altering of the plate" is not aloud.. they'll probley flip their lid over that.. and it doesn't help that i've got the most bored PD in washington just 3 miles from me.. it's lookin grim.. and i doubt WSP would give me a break on it just because i modified the car and it wouldn't look good.. guess i'll take the stock bracket once i get the girll and tryin fab up somthing |

I've kept the stock plate in the car still mounted to the bracket. When they pull you over, show them the plate on the bracket and tell them

1) it just fell off

2) neighbor kids ripped it off

3) you bought it like that and cant find the screws

Those are all excuses i've used. Number 2 got me a ticket once. Or you can make a bracket to mount it on the front spoiler down on the bottom under the marker light. |

				| I threw mine up in the front window on the passenger side. I still have the mounting bracket, so I figure worst case scenario I get a fix-it ticket, mount it up, and go to court to get it thrown out. |

				| You can make a bracket that attaches under the spoiler or to the lip on the very bottom. I'm with you, I don't ever want to screw into something thats appearance like that. Yuck. Check under your spoiler and you'll see a bunch of stuff you could attach a bracket to. Do it like that and you can take it off without any trouble or evidence that it was ever there. |

I modified my front bumper and cut out the whole mounting place for the license plate. Its my "aftermarket custom front end" that doesn't have a mounting place. so i keep the plate in the window. haven't gotten pulled over for it...yet *knocks on wood*

				| in oregon we have no such allowances . you MUST run a front plate. in the v6 car i have had it in the front window for almost a year. i have been stopped about 7 times in that year and each time the officer has said something along the lines of "well, it's against the law, but i don't care that much, fix it or you will get pulled over alot". so i get pulled over alot. |

i've had 2 occurances with front plates:

1- took my WA plate off and put on a novelty one. i got pulled over and the cop made me put the right one back on the car on the side of the road. (i had the WA plate in the trunk.) he was a jerk. "you think you get two plates for fun? put that on right now!!" switched it. no ticket.

2- i had a car that didn't have a spot for one. no brackets, no holes, no nothing, so i didn't put one on. i wasn't going to drill holes in my bumper.

i put the plate in the front window on the pass side and used small suction cups to attach it to the glass. i got pulled over but the cop liked the suction cups and thought it was a good idea versus laying it flat, he let me go. _________________ we all gotta start somewhere.... |

That's how mine is attached right now, just four suction cups in a little $2 "kit" thing schmucks sold. Mounted in the middle of the windshield at the bottom.

I hate front plates. My mom got pulled over in her vette the other day so now she's looking into plate brackets that bolt to the bottom of the bumper and can slide away to hide the plate. _________________

i really don't see the point of it.. when i cop pulls you over, ti's always from behind.. you don't need the tabs on the front.. what's the point of the plate.. and what happens to corvette owners?... idk, i doubt if i wrote a letter to any legistators they'd pay attention to it.. so i guess once i put that grill on i'll figure somthing out, having a visual always helps when it comes to making stuff (at least for me) till then i guess i won't worry about it anymore..

and i am sure me and you drive on the same road pathology so i'll probley have the luck of running into the same cop that gave you crap |

				| ok that just anwsered the vette question lol, posted at the same time basically.. i read tho that if your car wasn't equiped with a plate to put a plate... you could get a pass from WSP? seems like vettes would fall in that catagory.. |

In Washington you can "apply" for exception if you have what washington state sees as a good reason. I tried and got shot down no questions asked. I even provided pictures of the front end to show how difficult it was to mount without marring the front end.

So, I just put it in the window. |

				| alright so if they shot you down i'm sure i'll be no different.. i'm almost thinking i'm going to put the bowtie grill in that they had on the Z28's.. just mount the plate on that and put some fog lights on and call it good |
