So i haven't got my tax return back yet but Im looking at a fairly decent check for only being 18...An for the longest time sense i say my buddys 91 maro a system in it i've always wanted to build a decent system.
So...I really dont use my trunk that much all i have is a small toolbox that i could put in the side-compartment and i dont have t-tops so... I'd like so see what everyone here has or dosnt have to get a rough idea of what i want.
I dont really have the time to build a custom box so im pretty much just looking around in i-net to buy a box. |

Nice Jon! I tend to stick to Pioneer Pro decks. It is usually the first *mod* I do to trade ins at the car lot. In goes the Rampage Crap deck, out comes the touch screen something and the amp and subs... _________________

I'm currently looking to get rid of this box with the speakers. The box itself could stand to be re-carpeted. I have since upgraded to something more concealable and better sounding.
I have this now. A carpeted perforated steel cover fits over it and conceals it nicely.

Magnaflow.
Err....not what you were talking about eh? Aside from my headunit, everything else is stock '91 vintage GM. It rocks, I know. _________________

That'll do the trick, but you need to hide those wires so they don't accidently get pulled out |

| About 40lbs. You could put it in with one hand. Everything fit under the stock luggage cover too so it was stealthy. I went through 3 alternators in a year. West Bay Auto wasn't excited about that. |

Kenwood detach deck.
Dash Pioneer Speakers
Factory rear vert speakers.
Between the exhaust, wind noise...you cant hear crap. I'm not to worried about it. More worried about the roof getting slashed then I am hearing music.
My music days are over, I had an s10 that got many of warnings and tickets. |

My system is all torn apart at the moment, so no pictures, but I'm currently working on a stealth setup for the entire system.
First step was to mount the amp. I'm running an Elevation Audio 300.4. I mounted a piece of plywood to the spare tire bracket, and will mount the amp on that.
Waiting on some cheap Polk speakers for now, but gonna try and upgrade to 5.25" comps in-dash.
As for the rear, on the suggestion of a few people over at CarAudioCentral I'm dropping the rear 6x9's (currently MA Audio coax's) for a pair of Shallow 8" subs mounted in the sail panels. Probably gonna go with Poineer for these, but not entirely sure.
Head unit will be the Panasonic Al gave me for now, but may upgrade to one that's MP3 player compatable. That head will be run through an Alpine EQ that was in the cra when I got it. Hopefully I'll have enough room for a flip down panel over the HU and the EQ, which will make it lok like a stock AC Delco unit. |

I would not run an 8 in that sail panel. Especially if it is a "subwoofer". That panel cannot be sealed easily and having a sloppy sub that close to your head will sound terrible. If you reinforce the front face and sudo seal it up, i would recommend a mid-bass DRIVER. Or you could put a really stout 6" mid from a pair of components with blown tweeters. Then use a crossover to block out the treble and bass. It would basically be rear fill at that point.
But then again, you might have troubles with intensity and phasing by putting rear speakers closer to your head than the fronts. |

I'm going to try something similar in my 89 when the time comes. I'll try to seal up the space and use at least an 8" driver. Might try to find the stock plastic boxes for the extended range sound system, or stiffen and seal up the fiber ones that I already have there. They extend downward toward the wheel well and look like they have alot of air space.
I'm going to use the Delco deck with line level converter, 4 channel amp, and 4 X 6 plate components in the dash, or components in the door/kick panel. Also going to figure out how to use the aux input to the Delco deck to hook up a satellite receiver. |

| You don't want the extended range boxes Al. My car has them and its near impossible to get a speaker to fit them the way they're baffled. They also create a nice rattle with very much speaker. |

Thanks Brandon, I intended to modify them anyway. I might just stiffen and seal the things I have if they hold together |

| Wow thanks everyone for the pics and stuff. Was just wondering...im guessing sealed will sound a little better and deeper in the cargo area wont it? My buddy has 2 12's in a sealed box and it sounded really nice then her got a ported box with the same setup and it didnt sound all that nice. |

| It depends on how it's tuned. A ported box is loud around the frequency it's tuned to. The one I have sitting in the garage (my first pic) is ported and tuned to about 34 Hz and hits pretty hard all around, but really hard at it's tuned frequency. It has 2 JL 10W6 (dual 6 ohm voice coil) woofers installed and wired 1.5 ohm. I could get 1.5, 3, or 12 ohm, and since my amp is 1 ohm stable, I chose the lowest. Could use but 75% of the amplifier with that load, the amp needed 1 ohm. |
