Well, I got it to start today, but it isnt running quite right yet. No power brakes, running kinda rich, and the timing might be off. Leaking from alot of places :p
Any way, its alive, it sounds amazing, and all that is left is some leak chasing and fine tuning!
Dyno here I come! |

| Is your sender on the china wall atop the engine block? They always seem to leak. You might pull it out, clean the area, and put it back in with some teflon tape. Make sure it's nice and snug. No Hee-man stuff. |

Well, I didnt know that you have to use a socket to put the pressure sender on, so i broke mine using the monkey wrench apparently. I returned it and said, "I put it on, tightened it down, and it leaked really bad" and then bought a socket. That is the good news.
Bad news? I busted my heater core somehow... Now I am going to try to block it off, and see if I cant drive it, make sure there are no other problems, and then hopefully I will have the new core in before driving all the way out there....
As far as the heater hoses though, Mine are strange... Intake manifold to the firewall, and then from the firewall it goes down to the frame rail, then makes a T, it goes to the water pump and to the radiator. This seems repetitive. I have a little piece off the 91 water pump to close that hole, but I dont know what type of "cap" I can put on the T.... |

| Just route one heater hose from the manifold to the radiator. That will get you by without heat until you fix it. |

I don't think that will work Rod. The hardline on the frame rail goes from the HC to the radiator. He has to bypass that somehow too. Schucks I know sells 5/8" heater hose caps. You can take the lead off the radiator (the hardline one) and cap the Rad there. Then cap the manifold.
Steel.. the T you have, you should cap the T part off. Your setup should go:
Intake to Firewall(HC)
Firewall(HC) to Radiator
T-ing a line into the waterpump may cause a circulation that is unneccesary. So good news is you can clean a hose up! |

I just trimmed that hardline back a couple inches to get rid of the T, but same idea. _________________

Maybe I'm not understanding correctly, but why not do away with the hardline and "T" fitting altogether, get some 5/8" Heater hose and do this:
Intake to Firewall(HC)
Firewall(HC) to Water pump
Aren't most Carburated Small Blocks routed like this? _________________

| Why have an extra giant ugly heater hose running over your valve cover, and not a nice hard line below out of the way? |

I've stuck with the hardline. The only downfall I see is when I have to change the small section of heater hose at the firewall that attaches to the hardline just because it's a little cramped back there but it's a small price I guess.
Steel, Wipe it all down a bit a brake cleaner or something so you can tell where it's coming from. If the filter is seated correctly, the oil pressure sensor is tightened down (maybe even with a little bit of Teflon tape?), then it must be coming from higher up |
