1991 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

i saw a camaro on craigslist list the other day and it kind of refueled my interest in camaros again. my last camaro i totally ran out of patience with and sold it. i think it was due to the fact that i wasnt totally ever happy with it. befor i bought it i set out to buy a 5spd tpi car. and instead i found that, and did a foolish impulse buy. i put some money into it. then started neglecting it and i wore it out and it wore me out. so i sold it and said good riddance to the camaro phase. with the money i bought a little pick up which is actually a really good truck. i like having it and am def gonna keep it. but the thing is,i thought it would get better gas milage than it does being a 4 cylinder. it gets like 19mpg. which is good compared to the camaro but im so sick of having absolutely no power what so ever. on the freeway my top speed is like barely 70. (if im going down hill) other than that it is a great truck. anyways i saw this 91 camaro on craigslist that is a 5spd and claims to have a 350tpi swap. the add seemed pretty legit and iv been thinking heavily on it, and things i would do differently, ect ect.

here is the add im talking about.

http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/car/478063815.html

i emailed the guy for more pics, hopefully better quality ones too. iono im just bored and thought i would express my camaro thoughts lol.

hmmm. Seems pretty straightfoward.

Also seems to know enough about 3rd gen's and about the whole L98/auto only situation.

Corvallis is a bit of a drive, but you might give the guy a call. Generally you can get a good sense of who knows what they're talking about and who's yanking your chain to try to pass the car as something its not.

even if it were just a 5.0l, the mods he's got says he atleast knows a little about 3rd gens (like for instance, he stated it has a world-class t5). The pictures make the paint look pretty dang good too, for the condition and mods, that is a steal. The drive to Corvallis could suck, but... you only live once heh.

The drive isn't that bad. It's like two hours from Portland and all freeway. Dude go look at it. I would.

Is that miles on the chassis or miles on the motor?

180K on the chassis isn't that bad for a 91, my 92 is right at 220K. I'd be more concerned with the miles after the swap than what the odometer says.

Wow I feel like I have a young car at 156k.

Miles don't matter. Care does. My dad's '88 Ranger has about 280k+ miles. Anyone that's seen it figures it's in the 130k range.

I'm just about at 280k now on the formy too. It's not so much miles as care and rust you got to watch for. Everything else can be rebuilt if necessary.

Agreed. I meant something along those lines on the last post. Some miles are much harder on a motor than others (city driving in stop & go traffic), but with proper care and maintenance it shouldn't matter.

+1 to what's everyones been saying. The price is right, but check the numbers. The VIN isn't going to line up, but try and pull the head numbers if you can.

BTW, on the mileage thing, don't sweat it. I've had far more troubles form my 85K mile IROC than from my 175K Ford. Only difference is that both the previous owner and I took care of the Ford. The IROC got whomped on by morons and left in a barn for 9 years. Rolling Eyes
