hey everyone-

i'm getting ready to do some work on my gta and i'm pretty sure some computer adjustments are going to be needed.
since the car doesn't have a smog pump and some of the smog equipment is broke/not hooked up, i'm pulling everything that isn't serving a purpose.
i'm also adding some headers, not sure if i'm doing the full exhaust. from what i can tell, it doesn't need it, but i'll deal with it later. i'm also doing a bunch of other stuff, but i don't think it'll effect the computer.

now, i'm pretty sure that removing all this stuff is going to make (if it's not already) the computer a little unhappy! i was wondering what route or steps need to be taken to adjust the computer....get everything running right and maybe get a little more power of it.
any suggestions? is there somewhere i can send it once all the changes are done?
i don't have a clue when it comes to these computers so any help would be appreciated.
thanks.

most dyno shops do chip burning... but that will cost a ton of money. it would be WAY cheaper to buy the stuff you need to burn your own and start learning. Twilightoptics, Mangus, Dewey316 and Iansane all know about ECM tuneing, twilightoptics is currently managing the tune for atleast three crewbies including himself (shultzy, himself and me, probably more). in fact, you have an 89 GTA with a 350 right? he allready has my tune made that has AIR and AC deleted in the tune, as well as compensation for headers, it would need a little tweaking as no two cars are alike, but it could be a good jumping off point.

the software you need is available for free at http://tunerpro.markmansur.com/. i have never used it myself (i have intended to get into this for a while, and just never have), but i hear it's "the sh*t".

as for the hardware, you will need a Prominator (deal; that allows you to plug chips into your cars computer) and some other hardware for creating and burning them. the other hardware i can't help you with, but i would love it if somone would speak up, because i need to start looking at that stuff myself. the prominator is available at moates.net.

this is a "prominator" right? and this is the one needed for TPI right? someone correct me if i'm wrong here.

thanks for the info.
yes, i have an 89 with a 350 tpi.

i think it would be easier (for me Wink ) to be able to send it, if possible, to someone who knew what they were doing.

this step is a few weeks away but i know it'll need to be done.
i'm not sure what's available locally, but i knew you guys would know!

i don't know where pasco is, but in Sequim WA there is a shoppe called "dyno sources" that did some computer work for Al Hasse. he seemed pleased. and one of the crewbies works there, IZCain. they have the worlds fastest RV.

thanks!

WA isn't very big....so everything's close!
actually, pasco is in southeastern washington, it's about 1 hour southeast of yakima.
here in a few weeks when i get to that point, i'll have to give 'em a call and see what they can do.
thanks again! Very Happy
