So i picked up a 13"x4 open element air cleaner and a 1" spacer to clear the coil by the distributor. It fits but the stud coming out of the TBI unit is too short to get the wing nut on. Has anyone run into this? I left the gold ring around the throttle body on, should it be removed? do i need a certain type of drop base aircleaner? or do i have to remove the stud and replace it with a longer one? if so do i have to take the Throttle body off? i tried spinning it out, but the edge hits the injectors on each side. any suggestions would be most appreciated. _________________ 1991 Firebird L03 T-5 |

Can you fit it without the gold spacer? If so, just do that. I use a drop base on mine. You can take the stud out, but unplugging the injecotrs, once the electrical connector is out the way, you should have room to undo the stud.
