So here's the deal-
I've got this '81 camaro that I've spent the better part of the summer working on. I took out the old tired V6...and rebuilt and installed a nice fresh 350 out of a '71 pickup to go in it's place. I got it all done this week, and started it up. Man, with open headers it's beastly sounding by anyone's standards, especially compared the the old sixer.
The original V6 had exhaust manifolds going straight into a dual exhaust setup with NO catalytic converter whatsoever. This was not a problem, since where I live there is no emissions testing on '83 and older vehicles.
I had to cut the old exhaust off from just under the car where it meets the new longtube headers...A seriously easy job for someone who can weld- just connect up the old pipe to the new headers, which would take maybe 1ft of pipe with a flange on the end for each side. No bending or tricky angles...just a straight shot.
Unfortunatly for me- I'm having trouble finding some place or someone that is up to the task, since it's an '81 and originally had a catalytic converter(even though it was long gone before I ever owned the car).
I was hoping someone here might know someone or have an idea that might help me out? Can anyone reccomend a speedshop or something that might be more willing to deal with this type of stuff? I can tow it to/from the location, that's not a problem either
Thanks |
