|
|
As many of you know, I've been brewing a lot of beer lately. Once again, I have 35 gallons in my living room. Ugh. Anyway, my brewing buddy and I are thinking big again. We've started this little operation with the name of:
Brew Munkey
Do you think this is a good idea for a beer brand? We've starting talking to Department of Revenue and the Liquor Control Board as to what we need to be a registered micro brewery. I've started some logo stuff, but some idea's and feedback would be greatly appreciated. Any logo idea's or brand names would be awesome too. I'm not very artistic, I just like to brew beer.

The top I just whipped up in MSPaint. The bottom I stole from Midnight Spank on G4 TV. I really like the Midnight Spank monkeys. Funny stuff. I'd get in trouble if I went commercial with it, but its funny as a tap handle. I'd also like it to do something like this as a tap handle.

| I recently canned some plums from my backyard. Those glass jars are burly! I'm thinking of "canning" some beer and sending it away for you guys. |

I just might have to. I think you can get the 8oz jelly jars for a buck including the lid. Won't be too much to ship. Should hold most of its carbonation if I fill it all the way to the top.
Any idea's for a logo? Or am I doing okay thus far? |

I know they are gorilla's, but it might be fitting for some of our dark, high SG beers. Nate just brewed one with a SG of 1.110! The anticipated, Tripel Vice. Hopped porter with coffee, dark chocolate, Kona dark roast coffee, and toasted oak chips. |

Was the 1.110 beer a big clean belgian trippel? Or a big imperial porter?
I hope to do a batch of the ohhh soo yummy Caramel Cream Ale this weekend, I'll see if I can find a brewing partner for the day.
I'll check out your logos when I get home, for some reason work is blocking the pictures.

I posted them on my-space.
We call it a "triple" cause its has alcohol, caffeine, and "smoke" (toasted oak). We call the coffee porter a 2 vice for the same reason. Both are more of an Imperial porter. The triple vice is already at 1.040SG after only 2 weeks.

The 2nd one you posted looks the best thus far IMO. You should check out the quality of logo/advertisement with whoever you want to be your main competitors, may give you an idea of what "works" for them... color schemes, themes, etc...
How about a monkey who grabs beer from it's butt to throw, instead of poop? Just trying to get the ball rolling for yah haha. |

| Definetly. With such a light hearted name I think it might be good to involve a semi-serious approach. Just so noone thinks we goof off or make sub-quality beer. Hence the gorilla for the heavy beers. |

the brown n yellow one you orginally posted looks more kinda "old time'ish", and would need to be a dark heavy beer.
Top one looks simple n effective.
Not sure what them other 3 pics you posted are to be for? One kinda looks donky kong'ish (shizzle, am I showing my age there?)
I didnt think you were allowed to ship alcy thru the mail? Would it have to be ups/fedex? Shipping glass may not be wisest, but for local sales it should be fine.
I see what your saying about the glass fruit jars and that may help in the old time feel. Remember, whatever you "can it in" may change the taste of it, as well what you clean it with before pouring in. |

Picture 1 and 2 would be more of a brand logo. Something to put in advertisement. A brewery logo.
The others are more of a style logo. The Amber could be the second or third. The porters could be more of the gorilla pics.
You can ship bottles of stuff no problem. Whatever is in the bottles isn't for sale. So when you buy a beer from ebay you are actually paying for a fancy bottle. "Paying" for the contents would probably violate liquor laws. Nate buys bottles from Europe. He just announced this morning that he has had a beer from every Trippel brewery in the world now, being there are only 6 or so of them. All of which were shipped from Europe. |

We start a lot of our beers with the 1059. BUUUUT, I've reused my yeast more than a couple times now. I actually forgot the last time I've bought yeast! The first rack usually has some weirdness in it from grain fallout, but the second or third has some high quality yeast. That stuff I save and use in the next batch. I just threw a bunch of yeast away cause I already have a full 1 gallon jug of yeast in the fridge.
Your correct, of the real trippel breweries. |
