Is it a diesel? If so where did you go for the transmission. I have a bad feeling that I am going to have to do this before too long. |

Nah... it's a 10 cylinder gas model. It's a 2001 that got caught in a 7 month window of a bad trans design that Ford put a TSB out on but never recalled.
It looks like this is the second transmission, based on the rig's build date as opposed to the build date of the trans. But it also looks like the replacement was put in from that same window.
I picked this one up at Phoenix Rebuilt Transmissions. The total, including shipping, core charge, core shipping, 2 year replacement warranty and included rebuilt torque converter was $2105 dropped off at my home shop.
The core is... I wanna say, $350. The trans is an R4100 for a 4 wheel drive.
The one for a diesel (a 5R110W) is here but spendier: http://www.phoenixhardparts.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=308 _________________ "Are you guys ready? Let's roll."
