Ok, newest update on the stroker. I have a dissembled 350 in my garage, and I'm ALMOST ready to take it to Bud. I have decided that Im sticking with the T-5. Im going to re-build it, and I dont expect it to last long. I cant afford to step up to a T-56 yet. Right now, I need a Flywheel and a Clutch.

Since this is still a BUDGET build, I need to go cheap on both. What is a GOOD but CHEAP clutch? I am going to be running about 400 horse power, and I dont want to destroy it in under a month.

As far as flywheels go, what is a good price for a steel one? Do I need to worry or even consider an aluminum one right now? What is the cost?

If your budget is that tight, why rebuild the T5? Also, why not use the stuff you have, and if it doesn't hold, or dies in short order then replace it?

It just doesn't seem like smart planning, to spend money on stuff you know is going to be short lived. You could put your T5 rebuild/clutch money away in a savings account, and add to it until you can use that money for a T56. Also, remeber this build of yours, is going to cost more than you plan. It happens, and that is just the way it goes, you get nickle and dimed to death building stuff like this, it helps to have some spare money around.

The T-5 is already worn out, it grinds second pretty bad. The clutch is also OEM, and I dont want to disable my winter car until winter is over.

My grandfather (works at lakewood tranny) says we can fix the second gear syncro on the T-5 for pretty cheap (maybe re-build was the wrong term).

The clutch and the flywheel I just dont want to disable the car right now. I plan on driving it all winter just because its mellow-er than the 91.

The thing is, for cheap, all you are going to get is an OEM replacement, why not use the one you have. This motor is going in the car, that has the clutch in it right? Why replace?

I'll second John. I know you probably dont want to hear it, but ... cheap, reliable, fast... pick two and the one left out it wont be.

The machinist wants to balance the entire assembly. If I didn't to balance the whole thing, I would just stick the new engine in and let it blow the clutch to pieces!
