Aparently Oregon is getting another racetrack.

pretty old news though I just learned about it. It's going to be in Grass Valley, Oregon.

I'm surprised I haven't learned of this earlier as I work at PIR and we've had some discussion about closing/relocating. (Don't worry PIR is NOT closing) and this racetrack has never come up. Seems that they are behind schedule and underfunded but have no lack of confidence that the racetrack will be built.

Does anybody else know any more information about the project? I can't seem to find much after some searching.

There was some discussion of it on corner-carvers, but information is very limited. I am still waiting to see if it actualy happens or not. And of course it is in the middle of no-where, I don't know how they are going to handle the logistics of lodging and ammenities for people.

Texas Motor Speedway was built out here in College Station, and before it was built, the town didn't have much, and only an on-campus hotel for visitors and an on campus apartment complex for instructors, etc ...

now, the town has easilly quadrupled in size, more hotels, a vast supply of restaurants, a performance shop or two, specialty tires store (all that was up there before was a farming equipment wholesaler for tires LMAO

) ... all sorts of things...

so, in a way, it could boost the economy for the town, depending on how well it does of course, and if people are willing to go out there. For me, TMS is almost a 2 and a half hour drive, which is similar to the drive from Houston to Austin ... but it's always been well worth it to go.

hopefully that one will be the same

the projected course on their website though, looks pretty nice... has me wondering if that huge straightaway is going to be a banked one, or if it'll be flat for drag racing though.

they need to get their asses in gear though hehe
