I'm flexible with the price and am open for trades. If you have something interesting like home audio gear (good set of PA's, amplifiers, CD players), car parts (WC-T5, T56, a strong rear end for my LT1, big T4 turbo, lexan rear window, motorcycle, car trailer, or a fuel injected 5.0L for my boat (!)), house stuff (vinyl windows, flooring, bathroom fixtures (claw foot tub), or shop machinery(drill press, lathe, table saw).
I'm into all sorts of stuff so dont think "nah, he wouldn't want that", cause I probably would. I own my house (750sqft shop), 2 camaro's, a lifted tahoe, a flatbed trailer, and an old boat with a carb'ed 302 ford.
I really just want the car gone _________________ E30

| Go above and check the Cardomain. I posted a video of the car going from 60 to 75 in 4th gear. You can hear the engine if you listen. |

So. Aweful story.
It was Saturday evening. I just got my call from BigBoi and I was ready to head off to meet him in Seattle. I checked all the fluids again just to make sure that it was on the level. Tires were a little low so I decided to hit the gas station to air them up. The car was started and allowed to warm up. I took it down, aired it up, and took off again.
What was that noise?
There was a new noise. What the hell? It was a knocky noise that happened at all RPM and especially at idle. Wtf. Maybe it will go away. Headed to the barn to feed the horse I went.
The noise was getting louder.
Pulling into the barn, the horses could hear me and were a little spooked. The noise was loud. Crap. Called Bigboi to tell him the bad news. I turned it off, checked the fluids again. Everything checked out fine. Wtf. Fed the horse, and started it up again.
Whoa, it was loud.
Drove it back home. Figured, if this was ment to be, lets have some fun. One final last hurrah. I wasn't mean by any means, but people were pulling over to let me pass cause they new the car was on its last leg.
I got it into the driveway. Phew. I made it. The noise had gotten loud. It almost made a squeek at the end of every knock. My roommate came out. He had a concerned look on his face. "Dude, that sounds really bad". "Oh yeah", I said. I gave him that look. That look you give someone when you grab the rope swing rope that you just made and are about to try it for the first time.
"I have to rev it up."
My roommate ducks behind the truck to avoid any flying parts that might let loose.
I grip the wheel and watch the tach. "Lets do this", I say to myself.
I stab the gas. The engine lurches to 5500RPM without hesitation. The knock persists like a bee hovering around your picnic no matter how hard you swat at it.
The bee stung. The engine changes tone and drops RPM to 4500 within seconds. As if it had a deadly alergy to bee stings, it realized that damage was done and the end was soon.
It came fast. Sounded like the oil thickened up and prevented it from spinning further. Immediatly smoke started coming out of the tailpipe and PCV. The starter lacked the torque to even budge the motor.
Further investigation revealed that all of the ALL of the radiator fluid was pumped into the oil pan. Tragic end for a 305. No doubt it served a glorious life. |

I wish the 305 in my 85 Z had that kind of cool story to tell....
Instead it knocked for about its last 2 miles, and tossed a rod on the freeway offramp.
I had to get my ass and my busted camaro towed home. _________________

it broke a rocker stud, tossed a pushrod through the valve cover, and pumped all it's oil through the hole, out the tail pipe (chris still driving this whole time) and then with no oil left it seized.
i think i have that right. _________________ 86' firebird (Junked in 2015). 88' GTA (sold in 2020).

I haven't tried to start it yet. When I checked the oil right after it was half way up the dipstick and all foamy. Like Imentioned, all the radiator fluid was pumped out of the radiator in 2 miles.
I don't know yet weither I'm going to put a different engine in it or part it out. I guess whatever happens first. So if anyone has a 305/350 laying around I'd gladly take it. The car isn't in that good of condition to warrant parting it out. Besides the random bits and pieces, the chassis isn't in great condition to be worth anything if pulled apart. The way I see it, its only good for a T5 swap or suspension upgrade for a stock RS owner. |

Best $28 I ever spent and the only protection against stud failure, to keep your engine alive. |
