Since LS1's like to puke oil back into the intake, I used a relatively cheap, and effective way to prevent burning off dirty oil ... an inline moisture canister/filter for an air compressor system... $25 worth of parts, 15 minutes at most to install....
no more oil slick in my intake manifold
the amount of hose and zip tied location is a bit much, but I'm eventually going to trim more than half the hose and bolt it into that little spare hole on the head near the oil filler cap and get it nice and cleaned up
I'm bored at 1:30 and have nothing else to do at the moment, I hate UPS |

| Sounds like a good idea. Were you having that much oil go through? |

| Here and there, I started noticing it in the intake itself when I swapped throttle bodies, and my oil consumption had gotten pretty bad, so last time I checked there was a little in there... it's not nearly as bad as cars with higher milage, by far, but I figure, like other things, it's just good for preventive maintenance, and gave me something to do to boot. |

Ive not heard of LSx's having this problem, but then I dont keep up with them.
What are each end of the hoses connected too since I dont know the motor that well? |

I heard from my parts sales rep that oil consumption can be linked to bad PCV valves. Exactly how I have no idea. I would think that they just want me to buy a part, but PCV's are no longer sold in parts stores only dealerships.
But i like the mod. I hate having my intake covered in oil crude. |

don't know about the PCV valves not being sold in parts stores, I bought one for maybe 3 bucks at AutoZone ... through the dealership it'd probably be 50 bucks it's a general maintenance part, mine was probably overdue for awhile, it stopped an idling issue I had previously. |

#1 ~ PCV Valve with Rubber Housing and weirdo C shaped metal mount (inside the housing) with a strap to hold it in place on the block. 3/8" end for the hose.
#2 ~ 3/8" hose into 3/8" Hose End into 3/8" NPT to 1/4" NPT Reducer into Husky moisture/air filter cannister
#3 ~ 3/8" NPT to 1/4" NPT reducer into 3/8" hose end into 3/8" hose
#4 ~ 3/8" hose end directly into the intake manifold behind the throttle body. normally there is just a 2" elbow that goes from the PCV straight to the intake... so while it's a lot of extra hose, it should keep the oil from getting anywhere near inside the intake
when I took my old PCV valve out, it was covered in oil and the valve wasn't shutting properly on the back. |

Nice idea Aaron, I'm just glad I'm not the one working in a fourth-gen engine compartment... with AC. |

yeah it's no picnic that's for sure... been trying to figure out how to re-route the lines over a few inches but no easy way to do that and not a huge fan of drilling... so... I make due... passenger side rear two plugs are done with the car in the air... much easier to do with the long tubes on at least |
