So on my way to lunch today I get stopped by this guy in a blue shirt and Elton John glasses asking me if i want to save the world. I think what is with this guy, he hasn't shaved in a week its all patchey and his glasses are givin me the creeps.

I ask him how he plans on saving the world and what is it he wants from me. He responds with a bunch about stopping global warming and passing higher emissions standards.

I say "Whoa whoa whoa buddy, I am the wrong person to be talking to about higher emissions laws, I drive a 15 MPG sports car that is registered over the mountains because it pumps out twice the legal limit of CO"

his reaction was priceless...he just stood there with a dumb look on his face as i walked away hehe

What is even better, is when you school them on pollution, global warming gases, percentages of CO2 produced by cars vs industry and shipping, and especialy electrical production, which they will use to power all their
"green" stuff. Or about how much polution is caused by the Nickle mines in Canada that they get the nickle for the batteries in their ohhh so green Prius. Or talk to them about how the whole hockey stick theory from 1999, was thrown out because the process used to collect the data was bunk.

It is just showing the sudden rise in global temps since the industrial revolution. The study was done by Dr. Michael Mann (sorry I was wrong, it was done in 1998). He used tree rings to determine historical tempatures.

Just google it, there is a lot of info on it, from both sides of the argument. Really you need to look at the data, and descide yourself what to think of it.

I agree that while car pollution is hurting the environment, there are other factors to consider. Like how much SOx and COx is produced by volcano's, or how much we rely on coal. And about this middle east thing, WE IMPORT 30% OF OUR OIL FROM CANADA!

Carbon dioxide pollution by industry causes global warming, hydrocarbon "smog" from cars and personal homes causes local health problems, but cools the enviroment overall.

Was just reading another interesting tidbit in the Sunday paper. Seems there are 2 large coal mine fires. One in India, one in China. Each of them releases as much Co2 as the entire US.

I like greenery, beautiful countryside, I believe in conservation of our natural resources wherever possible is a good idea. But this Global Warming paranoia is getting to be a little too much....

I guess we should listen to Al Gore though. He invented the internet.

Forget the water. Its all the cows we need to control, all that methane they produce is what is really warming up the earth.
