I have sitting in a box in my garage the whole wiring harness and both window motors and regulators that I bought a few months ago to retrofit my Sport Coupe with power windows. I have since bought an (awesome Very Happy ) Z28 that already has power windows.

I never had a chance to test these to see if they work, but I was assured by the seller that they do work fine. No switches, cause I stepped on them Embarassed... The wiring harness is complete and uncut except for the two wires that go over the dash under the pad.

Would be good for just the motors i suppose... or use it to convert a manual crank car over.

$30?

Kinda heavy and big, I dunno about shipping, guess you can get them shipped if you want to pay for it, or drop by if you're in the area. I'm in Chehalis, Washington, right on I-5.

Can you hang on to them for a while? I'd be interested for just the motors, the other hardware is a bonus. I can pick them Labor Day weekend on the way to K-Falls (or on the way back Laughing ) I have one motor that is VERY slow and another I think is a marginal re-manufactured unit. The driver's side is either way out of adjustment or needs a new regulator.

It's no problem hanging on to them, they're just sitting around in the garage.

Again, I'm not sure if they would be any better than your current motors, but I guess it's worth a shot.

If I have to tear my doors apart between now and then I'll hook them up and test them out for ya.

The windows on all thirdgens are notoriously slow. I have one that is slower than the other. For that reason, it's not a bad idea to replace the motors in pairs if you can afford to do so.

I've read that it's due to all the power being routed through low-quality relays, but I've never looked into it.

I had read that if you get a couple sized larger wires and fit them in from the switch to the motor, the motors will speed up a bit. But if they're uneven, that's more or less a motor issue since both sides will have the same gauge wire at the moment.

I found that post on TGO. Basically undid the wires attached to the brushes and soldered larger wires to them and ran them through holes drilled in the end cap. Made the motor run faster when unloaded, didn't see much difference when installed, but his car wasn't running either.

yeah that's the one.

Fact of the matter is, the window motors will be slow, so unless you want to try and retrofit some cable style motor/regulator there's not all too much you can do (unless you want to replace the glass w/ something lighter like lexan? heh)

Doing the brush mod or soldering the wires to the brushes to me seems like a great idea if I had to replace my window motors. I was talking to the owner of Walker electric today. He was in biz for over 40 years and he thought using brushes with the wires attached to them would be a more direct path and give a greater gain for the effort.

I did mention there was a mod to replace the weak circuit breaker in the motor. He told me the breaker was there for a reason. When the first power windows came out a lot of kids got hurt. Seems that the parents would leave the key on for the kids to listen to the radio, and the little kids would stand on the arm rest and windows got rolled up and kids got badly injured and some were killed. So they NEVER repaired power window motors, too much liability in doing that.

Anyway, just another point of view about the circuit breaker mod in the window motors.

That can't be true. My mom's 97 olds Cutlass has lightning quick windows. Orginal motors AFAIK.
