I need install a catalytic converter so I can pass the DEQ test.
Also I need to check the minimum about the Rpm, because when I change gear from P to R or to D the car move a lot.
Another things is that in the morning when I start the engine, I don't have problem. But when I start the engine with a warm car, it have some difficult, and smoke little bit... This don't happen when is cold outside...
The Camaro is TPI, and also have a K&N air filter...
Thank you! |

Because of the legal issues involved with Cats, you are probably going to have to go to an exaust shop. I have gone to the Meineke on 82nd in Clackamous before, they did pretty good. For work with the cat, you will need to call around and talk with some shops, it is a MAJOR fine in OR if the mess with emmisions equipment. So make sure that you talk to them prior, and that what you need done, is something they will do.
As for the other stuff, i would start with just doing a tune up, and see how it goes. |

Assuming that you actually have an '85 700R4 you are always going to have a jump going into any drive gear. It's a design problem with the transmission that is aggravated by running a B&M kit. (Ask me how I know this )
What RPM does the tach read at idle?
As for the hot start problem, I would check the normal tune-up stuff like John said, and check fuel pressure at the rail. If it's dropping for any reason the car will have hot start problems. |

you don't realy need a mechanic for this, you just need an exhaust shoppe. drive around to a few and get quotes. do not go for the whole "well, normally its 250, but if you do it right now i'll only charge you 200" that is how exhaust shoppes get you to pay $200 for a 65$ cat and two welds.
you should be able to get this done for less then $150, perhaps even less then $100.
where in Portland are you? |

| When I had my Camaro and I needed a cat before I put the exhaust on, I found a Meineke coupon for 1 cat for 99 dollars. It wasnt the nicest looking or anything but it got me through DEQ |
