so i drove down to Klamath falls to help my brother move from his old house to his new house. spend Friday night and Saturday morning helping him weld up the last of the suspension for his 4-runner, so we could flat bed it to his new house, but a problem occurred, the flatbed could not make it up the steep driveway. so we called Rodney. he was able to pull it about halfway up the driveway with a chain, then we blocked it, and Rodney positioned his truck out the side door of the garage, and pulled from the back of the garage, through the door to get the 4-runner in. and this craziness actually worked, in fact, it worked flawlessly. i took some pictures because no one would believe this without pictures. unfortunately i only have a few.

this first one is of the 4-runner. it sits on 47" military tires, with 20" bead lock wheels. my brother went with the lowest bidder on the wheels, and they are so misshapen they will not hold more then about 7LBS of air. those tires are as inflated as they can get. it currently has no springs, and no drive train. it is sitting on bump stops in this image. this photo does not do justice to how steep that driveway is.

and finally here it is in the garage. it walked sideway a little bit, but Joey and i were able to move it around this morning with jacks.



also on this trip, i rolled my 1986 2.8L car over to 170,000 miles. on my return trip from Kfalls i traveled 287Miles from Joey's driveway to my apartment complex. i made this trip in a little under 5 hrs. that works out to an average speed of 57.4 MPH. in excess of the speed limit for most of the trip. and that includes a stop in oak ridge to buy a bottle of water. my highest indicated speed on the return trip was 90MPH passing a few trucks. but a made a few passing runs without noting the speed. I'll have my MPG numbers tomorrow after i fill up.

also, we know from the squim dyno that my speedometer reads 5MPH low, but since my odometer is right this means my VSS is right, it is simply the gauge that is off. so check this: on the way too Kfalls i hit an indicated top speed of 115MPH, this means i was actually traveling 120MPH, and my ECM knew this. it never cut spark. 120MPH in a 1986 2.8L v6 and it never cut spark. i was always under the impressio that "104ish" was the cutoff point for the v6 cars. i am going to have to pull the computer and check to see if i am chipped or if this is some type of factory fluke. i love state route 97. "patrolled by aircraft". T-tops means i can look out and see no plains, and just wrap the speedometer.

that was 58. (97 goes from kfalls to bend, it tees to 58, which goes from 97 to eugene). they patroll the shizzle out of 58. 97 is a desolate highway with only 2 or three areas the cops care about. the towns where the speed drops to 45MPH. i saw two people pulled over in two different speed zones. slow down for those and the top of the realy windy hill (always a trooper there) and you are a-ok.

also it was 86 in a 55. and i was in neutral and coasting. i did about 6 miles of 58 with the transmission in neutral today, and about a mile with the engine off. i don't think i exceeded 65, and that was only in straight stretches where i could see no cops. the one exception to that was a passing lane past a ski lodge where i probably hit 75 weaving between trucks in the two lanes, the bandit would have been proud. i kicked ass, but i forgot to watch my speed. and then as i crested the hill after slowing down someone was pulled over, i got damn lucky on that one.

Glad I was able to help, but it would have been so much easier if my winch hadn't taken a big smokey dump.
But that is the steepest driveway I have ever seen, had to put it in 4 wheel drive just to back up into the garage.

Never under estimate what a Ford can do.

it uses Mercedes bens unamog axles. 2.5 ton duty. 7.5:1 rear end ratio. toyota supra single turbo engine. 2jz?

all the links for suspension are custom made with 1/4" wall 3"x3" square tube stock. they have "johny joints" to conect them to things.

it is going to be sick.
