1991 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28

I am looking to buy a new Camaro. I'd be interested in a hardtop/T-top 3rd gen any color with TPI or modified carb engine. Some preferences:

305/manual
OR
350/ auto (or manual)

*NO 305/auto, TBI, V6

-engine and tranny in good running order

- no rear quarter panel damage
- no rust
- T-tops would be a plus
- any performance modifications would gain more interest
- interior could be in need of some attention
- no leaks
- '91/'92 will gain more interest
- The better condition it is in the more interested I will be

I can buy for absolutely no more than $3000. I am looking for an alternative to a '91 Camaro Z28 that I am looking to buy for $2000 (it has quarter panel damage, needs drivers door, hood, and front GFX) So if I can find a car in better condition that would be great.

I also have an '85 Camaro Z28 that I would be willing to trade. it has a TPI 305 with 700r4 tranny. T-tops, midnight blue, in overall good shape.

that one was close to the top of the list on craigslist for around Portland, OR . Wish it had pictures of in light. But it sounds like a 91, black, 5.0, and some minor mods (he says it's got true duals?). Having the lock cylinders all keyed to one key is not that hard (and fairly inexpensive if you take all the lock cylinders out and bring them to a dealership for re-keying even.)

Umm... isn't a 5.0L RS going to be TBI? Also, when people say duals, they always mean dual tips. Half the people selling cars on craigslist have never actually seen the underside of their car,

True about craigslist folk not knowing anything about their cars. I believe that TPI would be standard for a 5.0l in '91? I may (and probably am) mistaken. Either which way, Dewey is making some nice numbers with his TBI setup, so you cant knock a vehicle for that injection system Wink

Nah, I won't buy that car. That was the first Camaro I ever looked at when I started looking to buy one. Some guy around me had it. Then he must have sold it to the guy that is listing it right now. It's not in all that great of shape. door dings, cracked GFX, paint chips, cracked headlight, and the interior isn't all that great either, it has diamond stitched suede that even covers the dash. Besides, a couple of months ago when this person first posted it, he was saying that it was super clean and had a 350. I had to set him straight. Thanks for looking though!

BTW, weren't you going to swap a T-5? Or did you give up trying to nail down the problems with the e/t?

IDK. I just want to keep my options open in case my current car needs some major attention like a complete rebuild. I want to have a goof platform to start off with and go from there. But if I do ever get my ET's where they're supposed to be, then the T-5 swap will be just about the first thing on the to-do list.

Have you thought about swapping in an LT1/T56 combo or the like? Spend a few grand, but kill two birds with one stone. Wink

Are you kidding me? Of course I have, and I WILL eventually do it Cool. However, I don't have several $,$$$ to spare at the moments and I won't for quite some time. Although I have been giving it some thought after I saw that LT1 for sale for $900 on Craigslist.
