Turbo_Jimi and I decided to change out the 19lb injectors on my '89 RS 2.8 with the 24lb injectors from the 3.8 that used to be in his '98. We cleaned up the 3.8 injectors and installed them on the fuel rail with relatively no problems. The 24lb units are a little shorter than the stockers but fit with no problem and the car started right up. We had a fire extinguisher at the ready just in case. I did notice a smoother idle and slightly better low speed power. That may have had to do with the fact that my old injectors were extremely dirty. All in all it was an easy swap that seems to have resulted in better performance.

Good deal. A swap with no major incident or collateral damage is always a good thing. Bonus that the car runs too!

Yeah, we were both surprised when it started on the first try (our projects rarely go this smoothly!) Very Happy

I bet your milage is going to go down hill unless you find a way to turn your fuel pressure down a bit.

At the same pressure you're adding probably around 20% more fuel.

Yeah, I was thinking that an adjustable FPR would be a good investment now. I can already tell that shes using more gas but the engine is running great with a definite improvement in low speed power. My main reason for switching to a higher flowing injector is for my planned turbo project hopefully starting this summer. A Walbro fuel pump is also on the list of fuel system upgrades.
