If any one is interested, I know of a 1987 IROC 5.7 for sale, + / - 50,000 miles.
Sit back and pull up a cold one and will tell you the history of this car.
I worked with a guy in the early 90s that claimed he had a RARE IROC that he paid 24,000 cash for. He was a little slooww if you know what I mean so I didnt listen to his stories about smoking the tires for blocks and being afraid of driving it etc, well maybe I did. One of his stories ended with the statement " it has 7,500 miles on it and I havent driven it in 5 years, to many tickets and parked it in the garage".
My mom was looking for a car at the time, so I started asking questions. The car was legit and my mom bought it a couple weeks later. She paid $12,000 for it.
I still remember my dad going ballistic when he got out of the car, THE POSI IS SHOT,<@#@^#&# the Im gonna kill him!
I calmed him down , then went to Lee Johnsons and asked for some GM posi additive. All was well.
Well all was not well in 2004. My youngest brother took the car down to have its oil changed at a quick change place. While he was driving home the oil pressure whent to zero and the engine started knocking. My dad now in his 60s had little interest in diagnosis. He did not like the car anymore and just wanted it gone.
My dad sold it to my other brothers father inlaw, Bob. Bob had the engine rebuilt ( burnt exhaust valve) and had the infamouse RV cam installed. The car know resides on Whidbey Island, in a garage with a check engine light that wont turn off. Bob is in his late 60s and asked if I knew of any one intersted in his hot rod.
I would like to see some one that apreciates third gens buy this car so I am posting this for Bob. It is a genuine 5.7 litre car, HAD an alluminum spare ( he he) Bose stereo and rear deck amp cover, 700 r4 tranny, and .......+/- 50,000 miles.
I think some one could buy this car for 6,000 cash.
I have personnely gone 155 MPH in this car on I5 near Renton, the light gray interior is in GOOD shape, the tranny shifts great, the posi is in almost new condition. This car has been owned by one person that was afraid of it and two people in there 60s. Talk about babied. |

| This car is LOADED, 5.7, 700 R4, 3.23 rear, BOSE stereo and rear hatch cover, etc. It has spent most of its time in garages but the Burnt Orange Mettalic paints has started lifting its clear coat in a couple areas. It was bumped in the drivers side rear corner, still has a damaged spoiler on that side last time I saw it. Other than that it has NEVER been in a accident. This car is tight as the day it left the factory. I wish my 87 with SPOHN weld in sub frames was half as tight as this one. |
