|
|
I'm making a homemade flatbed trailer and I had a question about leaf spring design. The trailer currently has a single mobile home axle with 3/4" monoleaf leafsprings. The bed is 7x10ft and tilts.
What locates the axle left/right on a leafspring suspension??? I'm just thinking that nothing is holding the axle in except for the leaf springs. So If I put 1000lbs in the back of trailer, whats stopping it from flopping over if I take a corner??? Do people add panhard bars? _________________ E30

| Thats all there is to it. Dont need a panard bar. Its just like a pickup, the leafs hold it in place |

So old school.... lol
I guess if that design lasted almost 100 years then it must be good. Should I be concerned about the leaf mounting points then? Make sure the shackels are stout as well as the brackets? |
