Decided to go ahead and go with the headlights. Still waiting for a replacement housing. One of them the halo didn't have all the LEDs work.

I picked up some LED Pilot fogs, and put in BLUE LED in the housing to match the heads. The old h3 55W fogs I had looks horribly yellow compared to the heads.

Got the meats on the Jeep. 33/12.5R15 Goodyear MT/R. They look sweet. Gave me about 2" of ground clearance. The body is up a total of 3" now incl the tires from the 1" body lift. The big thing under the jeep in the middle is the transfercase crossmember. I built it. The stocker (Called "The Shovel" or "Anti-skid") Hung down 4.5" at the lowest point and slopped DOWN in the front. Got hung up on it all the time out wheeling. The one I made the lowest point is 3", and slopes upward to "SKID." I can't tuck it any higher or I'll get driveline problems.

Tried to coat my headers. Didn't turn out so good.

So I thought I'd try some Alu-min-i-um headers. Seem to be working so far Laughing

Fresh Valve Grind

CopperCoat is your friend

Heads on. One little mod I did was turn the injectors around and run the harness from the inside. Cleaned it up alot I think.

Since Rodney is faster than I am... cough... cough.... it was because he copied my alternator bracketery design of the turnbuckle to the waterpump. So I had to improve the design.

Well she's back together.

So I still seem to feel a little slowing of acceleration around the peak torque area then she tries to pick up again.

Fought this at the track for a while and at the dyno at peak torque my HP just leveled off. Around 4500, should pull to 6 like it used to. AFR runs around 12.3 then spikes a full point leaner at peak torque.

Fuel pressure is good.

Found valves were leaking badly. Just had a fresh valve grind put on with new valve springs.

Now, EVERYTHING is richer. Not so much at idle/cruise but pump shot and WOT and upper RPM are now reading around 8-10AFR.

I tried leaning it out 5% and above the peak torque spot reads better (in the 12s) but still pig rich before then.

I'm wondering if I fouled the WB somehow, or if leaky valves could REALLY cause me to have added so much fuel. The intake valves were the bad leakers.

I'm afraid to lean it out too much for fear the sensor is reading improperly.

On the bright side, with the valves sealing..... low end torque is WAY up. Atleast if feels like it. Ramps up faster and so forth. Guess we'll find out saturday.

Dang! You have been busy young Jedi... where to start...

Tires look real nice on the jeep.

Lights are cool too. I want to talk about those foglights with you a bit.

Who did your head work? I heard rumor that you had some hotshot mechanic guru take a stab at them.

I don't know why you don't like the hedders - coating looks way cool.

What's with the book under the hood. I hear it from a reputable source that engines don't read books Wink

Looking good man.

hehehe Big shout out to Brandon for the head work and all the expertise.

The joke was the coating turned out a chalky white!

Brandon helped me there too. Head torque is about the only thing I look up. That an internal bolts.

Saw most of this the other day, but I'll say it again....looking good!

I'm especally fond of the alternator relocation and the new headlamps.

any spesific reason for moving the alternator? less rotating resistance with a flatter angle?

I might just do the same.

Looks good Paul, hopefully she will run hard enough to at least give me a race. Laughing

Great job on the alternator, now I have to go change mine over to that. Thumbs up

I figured you'd be waay off on the tune. Tuning with bad mechanicals messes things up good, and from teh looks of the cylinders you looked rich before.

That header coating is interesting stuff. Funny how it comes out of the oven white.. then a bit of polishing it with steel wool turns it like your finished pics.

No reason for moving the alternator other than for aesthetics. The power steering is down, why not the alt.?

Well B, I'll verify with Mike's WB before going too drastic with the tune for safety purposes. But it makes sense. Figured I was tuning over something mad.

And on a side note, if you do your headers B.... steel wool them right away. that second h eader was WAY harder to clean up. It was much easier when it was fresh.

Thanks for all the kind words guys!

Nice lights. I've seen them first hand as Tim (305302Eater) just installed a four headlight set.

His halos have gotten him pulled over 3 times in 2 weeks now. Laughing

AHAHA. Yeah, well, you and tim have that in common.

My favorite line from the last cop was:

"So, are you a cop?"

Tim: " Do I look like a Cop?"

Laughing

Do they not like them because they are blue?

-Schultzy

P.S. no, this is not the normal blue/red deal - just curious why the cops would have a problem with them and the only thing I can think of is the color - they tend not to like red and/or blue lights on anything but their own vehicles.

ORS 816.350

Section 4

Quote:
Vehicles operated by a police officer and used for law enforcement may be equipped with any type of police lights, but only these vehicles may be equipped with blue lights.

I would image that is why they have a problem with them.

AND it is always up to the officers level of "attitude" problem as to what is too blue or when the code "applies."

Because when you get down to it, almost all HID equipped cars nowadays give off an extreme blue tint or even ice blue light depending upon color scale of the bulb.

(One cop that pulled tim over even said that to him about how everyone else has HIDS and those are ok)

For the Record my halos are white. So no issue there.

The blue tint is okay.

Hardcore BLUE Not so much. My halos are obviously that hardcore blue. Would rather have had white. Oh well.

I wont be driving with them on. More for a parked or track night deal. I just wanted upgraded headlights and the halos were the same price.
