hi everybody.
i heard about this site from third gen and thought i'd check it out and say hi to everyone here in the northwest.
as for me, i live in pasco, wa. and drive an '89 trans am. i'm currently in the process of putting on a new powdercoated tpi system so the car doesn't run right now. i got the wrong driver's side runner so i had to send it back. just waiting for it......
this is my third trans am. my first was an 82 which i loved but couldn't save it. i also owned a '00 trans am which was awesome! but got rid of it for a bigger "family" rig, and by "family" i mean my wife and our dogs. it's tough to haul the dogs (which we breed and show, they're corgi's) around in the back of a trans am!
i bought this '89 last summer and love it. it needs some work, but i think it'll be a great car. i have a lot of plans for it in the future. first thing is to get a new exhaust, shocks/struts, and a glossy black paint job. it's red right now, which is ok, but all my t/a's have been black....it's the only way to go!
anyways, enough blabbing here.
later! _________________ we all gotta start somewhere.... |

miami-
hey, i got it figured out.
the guy sent me an '88 runner (which i knew about) with an '89 plenum. the two don't match!
there's just enough of a gap between the plenum and an "extra" tube on the driver's side. this gap was open to the air and the engine was killing itself.
i sent him one of my runners to be powdercoated. when i get it back, i should be all good to go! _________________ we all gotta start somewhere.... |

Welcome! It's nice to FINALLY see another person from the Tri-Cities! I grew up in Richland and my '89 Firebird still sits in a garage out there. The main problem is that I sit in Peoria, IL...
Post some pictures for us! |

Welcome aboard! Sounds like a nice car. Post some pics!
BTW, that extra tube on the drivers side was for the cold start injector on the older TPI units. _________________ '86 Trans Am - 5.0L TPI - LT1 cam - 700R4 - WS6

i knew about the cold start valve on the earlier models, so i had to plug the hole for the injector. i didn't realize that that "extra" tube didn't match against the plenum. at least it's an easy problem to fix...
Qwk Trip- what's it doing in a garage out here!
i'd like to hear that story.....
sorry for not posting any pics. i think i'm the only person left that doesn't have a personal computer. i have to use the computers here at work. plus, my digital camera is the first one ever made and it sucks. it should really be in a mueseum somewhere! _________________ we all gotta start somewhere.... |

Xophertony-
sorry i didn't answer you question.
yes, by registries, he means the Knight Registries. i've been a member there for about 7 years. that's when i got my first t/a. it was an '82 black and gold style. i had just moved away from home (dayton, wa.) and it was the first site online that i found that had to do with birds. i've always been a bigger bird fan than a camaro. i thought it was so neat to see people transform their birds into a car that i used to make out of a cardboard box!
....there's just something about a black trans am..... _________________ we all gotta start somewhere.... |

I grew up in Richland and after college got a job at the Hanford site. I couldn't stand a minute of it. Meanwhile, the 6-cylinder blew a head gasket so I tore apart the car with plans of an engine swap. I tinkered on it and purchased parts for about 2 years when I got a dream job in Peoria, IL with a big yellow machine company. I couldn't afford to ship the car (because I blew my money on cars) so I left it in my folks' garage and headed out. 5 years later the car is still there, I'm married, and cars are much less a priority. I've made some casual attempts to sell it but with no interest. My wife and I agreed it's time to get it out of my folks' garage so I'm planning to drive home this summer, load it up, and tow it to Peoria. Not sure what I'll do once it is here... Here's a pic of how it sits now. The supercharger isn't installed because the hood won't close with it in place. So close to being done... yet so far. I think the drag radials might be past their prime by now too.
