Well, thanks for the welcome.

I am new to owning a 3rd gen. I have been browsing 3rdgen.org for the last little while, gleaning information for my car. I noticed this site reflected my location a little better and figured I would join in here.

I guess a little about me. I live in Vancouver B.C. ,I am 34. I deal for a living. (cards, not drugs.) I know a little about cars but not as much as I would like, and I plan to learn, using this car. I just bought an 86 Firebird from its original owner, who maintained it very well. The body was near perfect, the interior wasn't bad, besides, the normal wear and tear on the seats and unfortunately the telltale cracked dashpad. The car is Red, T Tops, with the V6 2.8L engine. I actually wanted the V6 just due to the increasing price of gas, as this will be a daily driver.

The last owner did oil changes on it every 4000 km. and every 5 months got a full tune up. he had 4 brand new tires on it when i bought it for 1900 canadian. I haven't noticed any leak on the t-tops, even after the heavy snowfall we had here a few weeks ago. The only dissapointment i have right now is that within a month of having it, someone pulled a hit and run on it. Which damaged the drivers side front bumper. I also had a small stone chip on the same day which turned into a massive crack in the windshield after the temperature dropped to -3. I replaced the windshield already and am just waiting to get some extra cash to fix the bumper.

My plans for this car(probably a 2 year project) include: In no particular order.

Either replacing the Dashpad if i can find a mint one, or Installing a dashpad cover. Obviously the first one is preferable.

Replacing all the seals around the t-tops and other windows. It isn't leaking yet but better to get it done before it does.

Replace the Power window motors.

Install a remote starter

Either install power door locks or shaving the door handles. ( if I can get away with it)

Tinting out the hatch window to match the t-top tint.

I want to tint the side windows but still not sure I will or not, considering it is illegal here. Although it isn't heavily enforced.

If I shave the door handles I will repaint the whole car.

Adding in turbo and intercooler.

reupholster the interior seats.

add in subwoofer and amp and new speakers.

possibly swap out the factory rims and put on new ones ( not a high priority)

The only pic I have isn't very good. but I guess I will post it anyhow. Once i pick up a digital camera I will be taking more pictures.

Good looking car! Has the normal V6 4x4 stance, you should lower her. Wink

Welcome, and enjoy hanging out here. There are a few guys from BC that are around, some don't post that much (::cough:: Mike and Dan ::cough:Smile.

never really thought about lowering. I was thinking at the end of my changes to add larger rims and low profile tires. However, lowering might be an option. I will continue looking at other peoples cars before I decide to go that route. I always thought that lowering the car would make for a rougher ride and it already gives a bit of a rough ride when hitting potholes or going over traintracks.

Excellent! Nice looking firebird.

We just had a gathering in B.C. this last summer - good fun.

Don't be a stranger, we are all fbody family here. No dues, no officers just folks that like these cars and want to help each other out. We may tease from time to time but it is all (almost all Twisted Evil ) in good fun.

Well now Mike, this isn't entirely true. We do have our own Religious leader here. The "Lama" boy we call him. Somewhere there is a pic of him floating while he is medatating pondering the meaning of life and mods for his thirdgen I suspect Wink

Welcome aboard. Nice looking ride Smile . I may be able to help out in the woofer area. In the next couple of months, I want to replace the box with 2 JL 10W6 woofers. Will be building a box to accommodate the T-Tops and a single 12" Memphis woofer. Needing a little more cargo space behind the back seat. Let me know and I'll keep you posted.

welcome.

my advice: if the t-tops don't leak leave them alone. just care for them with the ocasional coating of dilectric silicone to help keep the rubber soft.
