Well,
Haven’t made much progress on the car, (maf to S/D, stealthram)
Not too much time to work on it, gets dark early now, cold and rainy.

1. We had a problem starting it last night, turned out the plugs were fouled.
Changed plugs fired right up.
So on that subject of
1227730 Ecm
We are running the 8D
Should we be running one of these???
727 01 A1 3E 46 51 55 6B 88 8D 96 D8
Which is the best choice?
I was looking to turn my constant down for the injector pulse width for the rich condition but the 8D is set up a bit different than the 165 maf, with the 6E that we were using before .
Any help to suggest what to change on the 8D to get it to run leaner would help.

2. We are also having an issue with the brakes or lack of, feels rock hard but no power brakes almost manual.
We have a stealth ram setup and it just looks like there isn't enough vacuum for the booster.
We have a vacuum reservoir and it shows about 20 hg on the dial.
Bled brakes and still no change, pedal feels good just no power assist.

Any suggestions???
I have read allot of posts about this same problem on brakes but no one finishes there thread with a fix. On T/G..

Any way thanks much
Scott

I don't have advice on which mask to use. But, I do not like ot lie to the ECM, I would figure out what your BPW is for the injects, and use the one, for the actual injector size you have. Then tune the rest based on the reading. There are enough other things that use the BPW calculation, that if you fudge on it, just to get things to lean out, you might have some trouble really nailing in the tune later.

I agree. When I lied to my 165 ecm, It limited the amount of final BPW I could get.

Yup. And with SD, you are using that BPW for almost every calculation, pump shot is all a %delta change in a sensor and BPW for calculating it, all your VE calculations are based on BPW also. So if your BPW is way off, when you start to work your VE tables, the cells you can not fill, are almost imposible to correctly extrapolate. with BPW right, the calculations all work out the way it should, so you can extrapolate a lot of cells.

IWill be setting up a new chip tonight.
I will be turning the air system off, since I took it all off anyway.
I have been reading on TGO that it will run rich since it thinks that there is extra air being injected, which there isn't.

Oh,
BPW, Base pulse width.
The only thing I see that relates to that is, size of injector, it was set at 22lbs, I have 24lbs, so I set it to 24lbs.
Iam using the super 8D bin.

So Is that what your talking about as far as figuring out your BPW ?
thanks\

If you have an injector size constant, that is probably it.

Also, if you are running above stock fuel pressure, you should adjust for it.

Sounds like you just need to get some tuning with the VE stuff.

Well,
I think I need more than that LOL...

But I don't like fouling plugs, shoot we have only been driveling the car up and down our road slowly, and running it in the driveway. It was the same deal as far as fouling the plugs, when we did the motor and fired her up when it was a Maf with the 165 computer, only then we would get about 20 min. out of a set of plugs.
We have got to figure out the Hard pedal and fix those brakes before we really drive the car.

I got the super 8d off of moates.net.
What are you guys who are S/D running for bins? There seems to be a wide selection.

Thanks
Scott

I think CheezX and Ian are the only two running modified factory SD cars, so I don't know what they are running.

SD is much pickier on the tune than MAF, you will need to start adjusting the fuel tables to get it to stop fouling plugs. Just changing the injector constant, won't cut it with SD. Hook up your tuning tool, look at what cell it idles in, start taking fuel out there, if you make a 12% change in that cell, make about a 10% change in the cells immediatly around it, see if that helps it idle better.

Also, you will need to check the coding, if you have a target idle O2 value, with the larger cam, you may need ot adjust that a hair. With a larger cam, the O2 values at idle, are going to read leaner than they really should. If you have the ability to, try adjusting that a bit.

Wow,
for some reason I thought more of the crew were S/D.

I think I know Ian, he has the red firebird convertible right.
thanks

Yeah, and CheezX doesn't post much, he is in BC, 400sb with TPI.

More do, but Paul is an aftermarket computer, I have TBI, etc. So, we aren't using the same computer you are.
