didn't we cover this already?

I believe it was said that where mechanical interference or break down (be it float valves, lifter pump up, etc...) is around 6,200rpm for most Chevrolet 60 degree V6's.

based on the profile of the cam, valve size, and the rate of the valve springs and rocker arms, it makes no real power past 4,500rpm. Beyond that you're just revving it for shits and giggles.

hope that was the answer you were looking for.

the point being is running these cars at that rpms cause damage to engines trans missions , also not to mention what hazard you are to other drivers. shifting to first on the freeway? cmon now and then expecting it to last? yeah right. i mean arnt these cars exspensive enough? its not like these motors are built for that kind of abuse

Thats why the other one got locked.

Anyone who drops their car into 1st on the freeway, deserves to pay the stupid tax, and buy a new motor.

Just like the last one, this thread is just going to turn into a downward sprial. So I am going to cut it loose before it goes downhill. Please guys, don't start another thread on this subject. If you have a more specific question feel free to ask it.

We all know there are too many variables for anyone to give anyone else a specific number, the condition of the oil pump, the condition of the bearings, the cam being used, the valve springs used, etc, all contribute to this. There is no 1 number than we can say is the max RPM limit for 60* V6 motors.
