Can a stock tpi fit on a 400 sbc . A customer of mine gave me a sbc 400 for free and was curious if the brackets and computer sensors will bolt up to the 400 sbc. i was thinking about installing it (after rebuilt) in my 87 tpi iroc. Don't worry about the ecm bs i got the stuff to do it. It looked like i need to use the heads from the 88 5.7l but that would built too much compression right? is it practicle? i like to retain the tpi if possible.

Your power will prolly peak under 4000 rpm. TPI kinda sucks for performance on the smaller small blocks, much less a 400. I think it will all bolt together though, the stock head choices suck since they are smogger heads. Might be able to use a bigger dished piston and the L98 heads though.

It's been done before. You'll probably need bigger injectors though, and some porting. The larger the displacement, the more of a bottleneck that intake will become. Depends on how much you want that sleeper look.

Depends on the intake TPI you have. You might have to drill out the intake center 4 bolts to fit the newer/older style heads. And the knock sensor is different. You WILL need different injectors and most likely a program.

If you want to build a 400ci and get some power talk to Cheezx on this board. He did it with TPI and the motor he built is really quite impressive.
