-Will I get a better temp sender reading from one of the ports on either side of a 700R4, or a tap in the pan, or does it even matter?
-Was there anything done by Chevy to the 700R4's run in Vette's that other cars didn't get? (Aside from the obvious servo, and tailshaft)
-Is there any reason at all why anyone would purposly block off the 1-2 accumilator completely? |

| Does it have a bolt on bellhousing or is it cast into the body? Does it need to be pre-cast for the offset bolt pattern for our cars? |

| Did they make 700R4's with a bolt-on bellhousing? All the ones that I have seen have been cast aluminum pieces, with a bolt-on tailshaft. |

| Tap the pan. You want the oil temp, and the in pan temp will be what's sent through the trans. |

My 700r4's bellhousing bolts on. I have 4 bolts holding it on. _________________ Towed amaro, 2nd engine blown spent $1500 not spending more. Decided not worth it. |

Twilightoptics is correct. the pan or the oil cooler lines are the best place to put the temp sender, the pan is easier and just as effective.

I beleave the only differances are what you mentioned. QwkTrip the only GM automatics that I have seen that have seperate bellhousings fron the transmission are the late model electronic ones put in the 4th gens and other GM products of the same time.

The reason someone would block off the 1-2 accumilator would to increase the firmness and speed of the first to second shift. This is not the correct way to do that, definetly if they did it with a green rtv type material tha tyou described in an earlyer post. The more acceptable way to do that to increase the size of the spring or add a spacer in the accumulator bore to decrease the travel distance of the piston. but to block it off completely could cause both first and second to be applied at the same time, and this could cause the trans mission to ware out to fast.
Sorry I did no respond sooner. I had time today and the other guys at work and I were talking about shift kits and other related topics.
On another note Danked KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT when you dont know what you are talking about! This post has nothing to do with how many bolts hold your transmission to the engine! If you want to learn ask a question to clarify don't make stupid inapropreit statements! _________________

Thanks for the answers. I think I just got screwed by a bad builder. I read a lot of complaints on TGO about a place called MadDog Transmissions that was famous for doing almost exactly what was done to mine: blocked accumilators, cheap 2-3 & 3-4 clutches, and a used sun-shell. They seemed to last only about six months at most. |
