Ohm's law proved once again.....
As some of you know, I've been having EGR codes ever since my first engine swap. Since this was still going on with this replacement motor, I put 2 and 2 together and figured out that I've been having problems ever since I replace a bad harness connector to the EGR. Since GM made the new connector with ALL white wires, it made it difficult to get them on the new connector in the correct place (even though I cut and spliced them one by one). Apparently I misclocked the connector and got the wires rotated 120*, therefor, power was applied to where one of the solenoid grounds go, and computer issued grounds (to command open solenoids) were also off by one space. So when the ECM issued a ground to open a solenoid, noting happened and consequently, an EGR code would be set. Last night, I rewired the connector correctly, and this morning, no matter how hard I tried with the same conditions that would set the code.... nothing.
It's amazing how electronics work when they're wired correctly
-EDIT: For those who don't know much about electricty and electronics, Ohm's Law makes everything work. Break any part of it and your gadget either doesn't work or it fries

If you meditate on it long enough, you will understand....
ohm, ohm, ohm, ohm.
Edit: DOH, beat to the punch by the newbie. |
