Locally, I only know of one place in Pousbo that does powder coating (I've heard they are pretty good too), don't know if they do chrome.

Kisap Powder Coating 360-779-4040

Also, if you choose to powder coat rather than chrome, we have a member (chevymad) who can do that for you - he just finished doing the wheels on his GTA and they look really good.

BTW where abouts in Silerdale are you? I'm just over in Bremerton (Illahee area).

What size wheels do you have/want? I have set of 15" American Racing "Oulaw II" clear coated with a brushed aluminum look, which look nice on our cars. I presently have a set of snow tires mounted on them.

There are quite a few places in the tacoma/fife area that do powder coating very well. Willing to drive out that far?

And welcome! Got any pictures of your ride? Maybe I've seen it.

Hey Good to hear from someone near by, I will definetly call them damn thats a sick ass car! never seen it on the road (id remember) Ill get some picks of mine, its nothing special but it will be. its a white 85 camaro T-tops really strait, no groundafex, cant get the damn thing running quite right just yet, but im working on it. As far as those rims go, i'd check em out ive got 15/7 RS Rims, never really liked em a hole hell of a lot the way they sit but lovem Chromed. Hopefully the place in Poulsbe dips but if not ill have to search Tacoma/Fife going to Seattle tomarrow so the drives no biggy. Im pretty busy this week but what are you thinking on price of those rims? maybe send a pick? Thanks for the return post guys.

Haven't really thought about a price yet, but they go with the tires (can't use 15" tires without those wheels) which are almost brand new, about 95% tread left.

Here's a pic of them on the car during my engine swap last winter.

I need to go back out to the hobby shop.

Al, do they let you weld the car with it up in the air? That would make life so much easier...

I can't really answer that question right now. The only welding we did there was out back.

Do they have equipment there for it, or do you have to bring your own?

Meh, I was actually thinking do they have welding equipment there? That post didn't actually make much sense. It's been a long day. Sad

All I saw there was that stick welding. Which I've never messed with so I don't know... I'd like to take some welding classes...

Not really SFCs. I broke down and did those myself. Ugly, but functional. I'd like to redo my x-member. I messed it up... Embarassed

Wassup brah!

I thought I heard that the heat curing that is required for powder coating destroys the integrity of allow wheels. Could someone elaborate on the subject?

A few people on corner carvers broke some powder coated wheels. After looking at the pics they didnt look like the strongest wheels to begin with. That and the fact those guys really push the limits anyway. There are many many places that powder coat wheels and alot of them come that way from the factory. Powder coating requires 400* heat for 20minutes. The ovens machine shops use to clean heads and blocks(including aluminum) heat at 750* for a longer period to burn off the oil/grease. I really think the broken wheels aren't a powder coating problem but a weak wheel/high stress problem. If you read the load rating on most wheels its not very high. The 15x10 hellcats on my truck, which are very heavily built are only 1550lbs per wheel. And arent recommended for 4x4 tires. After reading the posts and looking at how heavily built my stock wheels were, I felt there was minimal chance of my breaking them afterwards.
