what do you guys think the widest tire size im able to fit on my 16's would be? right now i got 245 50 16's on the back and 205 55 16's on the front. i saw an old camaro, maybe 70? today, and it had some pretty thin tires but wide as hell, could i get like 305 55 16's on the back and some 195 40 16's on the front?

I have 255 60 r 15's on the back and 245 60 r 14's on the front BF Goodwrich Radial T/A's. The front fit nice, and the rears I had to get the fender lip rolled for clearance. The guys at Discount didn't want to give them to me because they weren't "on the list of suggested sizes" so i told him I would go somewhere else and he caved.

on an 8" wide wheel (like the stock ones) I wouldn't go much past 255/50, that is about the perfect size for that wheel.

Laughing How are you planning on getting 195's on an 8x16 wheel? Those tires would only be about 7 inches wide.

as i said i had 205's on the front now, and the tire sticks out the side of the rims quite far, i was thinking i should be able 195's on there, just what another inch shorter which is like 1/2 inch on each side but what do i know, no way i could get like 305's on the back?

Not safely, on the wheels you have.

If you want the big and skinny look, by wheels that allow you do get that look. Buy some 15x6" for the front, and some 15x10" for the rear.

Honestly, man, I would be scared as hell to take a corner in a car with 205's on an 8x16. I would just keep invisioning that sidewall folding over and breaking the bead. Surprised
