Going to look at a 95 GP SE for my daughter today and the owner says the tranny sticks between shifts sometimes.

I was thinking maybe a modulator perhaps?

It a perty car but has 155k :

Dunno about the 3.1, but on my Dad's 3.8, the vacuum modulator on the tranny has blown out about three times. The first indication of it going is hard shifts (especially R to D), and tranny fluid slowly seeping into the engine oil.
