So obivoulsy I have to ditch the beautiful crosslace wheels to fit my new brakes. I've been browsing craigslist hoping for a steal and really all I've come across was the same wagon wheels that John's got. And those look good and all I don't think they're really what I'd like for now. I keep hoping for a steal of some 18's with tires but I doubt that'll happen.

I went ahead and looked on ebay at the AFS wheels because I saw some guy selling two of the 17" black Zr-1's (http://seattle.craigslist.org/pts/157944848.html here if you guys want it, they're a real good deal at $160 for two). I saw that their 18's are really pretty cheap at ~$600 a set which I could probably swing. Then I looked at tires. Shocked

Holy shat... $200 for fronts and if I went wide out back I'd be scraping $300 a tire. Wow. Either way I think it'd be worth it, just hard to swallow.

So without further adou (sp?) here are some of the cheap wheel choices I've come across. I'm not a chrome fan but the polished looks pretty good. Not that there is much difference.

y2k thin spoke vette wheels, 18x9.5 all around

base c6 wheels 18x9.5" front and 18x10.5" rear

Any other options you guys like? Don't give me fikse, ccw, or the like. I can't afford that stuff! Smile

Fish mentioned the c5 zo6 wheels but I can't find those in anything but chrome in 18's all around. Maybe if they were the standard grey or black centered ones?

I suck at photoshoping, anyone want to try choping those on my rig?

the largest picture i have of your car left the wheel about a half an inch high when the picture was displayed in full size. please post a large image of your car and i will see what i can do. preferably a large version of that one of it infront of the dump truck.

That shot you can also see how low the spohn t56 xmember hung down compared to the rest of the car... until it shaved itself...

Bone stock. hehe....

The owner actually let me take the car for a day before I even thought about giving him cash. Shocked

I like the 2nd wheel better but it's hard to tell with them at angles.

Ian what were those wheels that were on that 91-92 white trans am i Pmed you with? i really liked those.

so what size exactly are you looking for? are all vette wheels the same size? give me some exact specs and ill email my friend david (dude w/ those 2 c6 zo6's) so he can get with his shop to see if he can get me naything.

and btw, i still have not figured out about next week. still think saturday would be best?

I think the Y2K thin spokes look best out of those two. Should show off your new brakes. I looked for a long time but couldn't find any pics of birds with either of those on.

Ian, I gotta tell you that it kills me because I really love the look of the laced ones like that.

Anyway, I really like those $160 ZR-1's. Looks like the Grand Sport wheels.

Edit: And if you win the lottery, you could pick up a set of BBS's and keep the cross-laced look:

does not matter. i would prefer rubber, but ether way they won't go on until i wear out the 15" crap i have now. of course i can think of many ways to accelerate the tire wear.... Very Happy
