I've got an itty bitty teeny weeny chip on the pinion, that I doubt will make any difference. Ring gear looks perfect.

Axle piece was a BITCH to get out. Splines on the eaton look great.

Looks like I'll be able to get an axle, flush the carrier/tube, plop new bearing on there to be safe and be on my way.

That sucks but it could have been worse. The worst a tiny chip will do is make a little clicking noise at speed. No big deal.

WOW, thats great! (as "great" as a busted axle can be, but given the much more expensive alternatives i think "great" is a good word here) i was realy hoping it would be easy to fix. so you need a 10 bolt axle? i got one boxed and ready to go. it is the LEFT axle. i don't know if they are the same on both sides. it came out of the 10 bolt that was on my GTA when i got it. the right one was bent, the left was fine. let me know if you want it. i'll even deliver it on any sunny day, Cool

That'll save me a trip to the JY. It was a left that I broke. You can interchange, but once they've been torqued a certain way, you really don't want to go against the grain.

What you want for that badboy? I've got Wed/Thur/Fri off and figure I'll be able to have the new bearings put on the posi Thursday (Broke now lol)

Brandy pointed out something pretty neat. The axle piece has straight splines, and I twisted the bejesus out of the splines left on the shaft!

Idiot here. Anyway, those 26 splineers Paul? Pretty lucky you didnt do that further down the track. You are rear disc though right? At least that should keep the wheel on.

Yep 26 splines. Disc brakes held her in. I didn't even get off the starting line on the 3rd launch.

I hear 28's really aren't much stronger.

Guess I'll plop another one in there and debate hitting the track again or not.

Best time was 13.5 @ 102 with a 1.9X 60ft and that was my first run. 2nd run I missed 2nd.

Rodney, I joked that Brandon setup my rear.... and that green would have told me that the axle didn't break... kind of like Mike's oil pickup didn't fall off.

Damn ASD, how'd you do that?

Ian, I was almost certain the driveline was going to be toast! There is a hole in one of the welds!

LOL

Well we now know that the driveline, eaton posi with girdle, richmond 3.73 are stronger than one 26spline axle.

Anytime you take it apart you should check. Most likely nothing will change though, bearings should be built to a very precise tolerance. Moser or Strange build axles for these little 10 bolts?
