Brandon and I were there most of the day (at the Expo, not PIR). Brandon found a few things that he was looking for like dash pad, arm rests and steering wheel for the stepside project. He also got some body work hammers. I just picked up a few tools (breaker bars, etc.) that I wanted to have around. Didn't find anything else that I was looking for or that I couldn't live without. Was a good day though.

were refering to the last 3 numbers of a 7 digit casting number. I know some desireable ones are the 993's, 455, 494, 461's, 462's and 186 heads. A couple of those have an identifying mark on the front of two bumps. They're typically called "camel hump" heads.
Mine aren't a giant score. They were used on L82 Vette motors in the 70's and early 80's. and have the 1.94/1.50 valves. and the 76cc chamber. _________________

Saw a couple pairs of those Rod..I went with the 882's because they have a a machined rib in the center. They were least prone to cracking when they went to lighter casting's in the latter 70's. _________________

Cool, I have always been under the impression that the 882, 993, and 624's are boat anchors. I tried to sell them for $5 when we had a yard sale a couple years ago but couldn't get it done.
Tony I think the L98 head is 083 but I'm not real sure of that. That's suposed to be a pretty decent head if ported. |

| Well I know for a fact 624's are garbage.. I was needing a set for a cheap rebuild went through 6 heads all were cracked through the exhaust seats. |

I went through the "whole" casting number today and these are the 6 digit ones which means they ARE in fact L82 Vette Heads. The 7 digit ones (3238882) (3932882) are 400ci heads. At least that's what my SBC interchange bible says. I'm thinking these might do well on a 383. With a flattop piston, you might be able to acheive 10:1 compression. _________________
