So basically, This is in my new (1985 Z/28) Camaro, which I have not rolled the title over for....not only that....but I don't have insurance or a registration card on me. Gets worse....(and this may have been my saving grace...) I changed the plates from my 84 V6 onto this car, so I'd have current tags. Well...the 84 is registered to me....
So I Could have potentially been ticketed for driving with expired tags, in a car that was not registered to me, with no proof of insurance, and speed racing...probably means my car would be towed. While tony got one violation, I got two; Speed racing ($427), and Uninsured Motorist ($242)...
The officer did say that if I show proof of insurance on my court date, The Uninsured Motorist fine will be waived.
The funny part is this is my first moving violation EVER in 4 1/2 years of driving..... _________________

Ouch. My last speeding ticket is starting to look like a bargain.
On a different note, how are the cars running?

mine is running great. chris' is running like ass. we actualy left it parked on the side of I-84 for 5 hrs erly today. carb was acting up.
my heater core install went rough... we broke the vaccume lines to the HVAC controller.. again and had to pull the dash to replace them... some of you may recall i broke those lines when i did the headers too. we also removed the hard coolant lines bolted to the frame and replced them with soft lines. should make any and all further maintinence to the cooling system much less dificult. all in all it was a fun day. to bad it ended on a down note |

I agree. I can't remeber ever having a moving violation that cost me more than $100. I'm normally pretty responsible and I don't street race... Maybe the V6 has something to do with that |

i am normally quite responsable in my car. we were not actualy racing per se.., nor were we speeding, we just both broke traction taking off from a light quickly for kicks... though cris mentioned that anything like this is "speed racing" regardless of what you were actualy doing... do a brakestand at a light, speedracing
anyway.. we were dumb on like four counts
1 "speedracing" on the street when we are going to the track in 7 days.
2 doing it in front of a cop
3 doing it in daylight
4 doing it on a well used public road, if you are going to do somthing wrong, do it right. this should have been done on an empty back road.. not evergreen and shute |

Your doing better than me I had quite a few moving violations in my first few years of driving (speed runs from state to state during my Navy days). None were over $100 though. Haven't had any for the last 15 or so years Been stopped a few times, but no tickets. |

I've gotten quite a few of those.
Although like everything else, those are green up here.
Most all of the police in the area know me by first name. _________________

It's only dumb because you did it infront of a cop.
I play around all the time in the day light... without official supervision, and with no cars in run off room. |

yeah, I think to all the times I should have been busted for racing people...this one wasn't anything of any real glory.... and tony's L98 schooled my 'running-too-rich' LG4 real bad... I didn't even launch that well..nearly stalled (too much gas).
An expensive lesson to learn. Normally I save my "street racing" for rural areas...without a lot of traffic, thus less potential to get stopped by the man. I can't tell you how many times I"ve driven 213 between Oregon City and Silverton averaging about 90mph the whole way...never a problem.
It sucks, but I"m not gonna say I didn't get what I deserved...I probalby got way less than I deserved, this was just an expensive slap on the wrist.
and the cop was none the wiser to my "plate switch"..and I know that is serious trouble right there if you get caught with that. _________________

i may have"schooled" you on 7 cylanders too. just found out today via "butt diagnostic" that i have an intermitent spark issue again.. think i fried a wire. if so i am rush ordering 10.4MM wires for it. i m going to have a look under the hood tomorow. also good news. when we replaced my dash it must have been farther to the driver side then it was before. my steering colum does not rub my headers at all anymore. yay! |
