Well, found out the k frame is a little bent, went to the bone yard today and paid $100.0 for a good
one.
Any suggestions or hints on the whole swap out deal?
Thats why is pulling to the right and 1.5 inches shorter on the passenger side.

what a pain..Oh well.

you should be able to leave the engine in. you will need to hold it up with a hoist AND have the front of the car on jack stands. remove engine mount bolts, pull the front a-arms, unbolt the bolts holding it to the car (should be four on the spring perch suround, and if its an 85+ don't forget about those triangle brackets) then it should pull right out. there is also a brake line you are going to have to screw with.

this would be an ideal time to replace those engine mounts BTW. put engine mounts on new k-member, bolt it back in (if its an 82-84 i would recomend using the higher tourque specs from the 85+) re bolt engine mounts, reattach a-arms, throw the springs back in it. good to go. remember to re-attach the brake line.

when i bent up the front of my 6 i thought i might have to do a k-member swap to fix the problem. thankfully i did not. good luck.

Personally, I would never work under an engine that is suspended by an engine hoist. Always plan for the worst. That's how you keep all your body parts in good condition.

I have a PA Racing chromoly crossmember that didn't fit my car because it interfered with my steering linkages. Unusual issue that PA Racing has only experienced once before. I can't gaurantee it will fit your car either but it is made to their standard specs. I have a '89 V6 car. If you are interested, I will sell my chromoly crossmember. It's brand spakin' new and is powder coated red. It is configured to accept both stock springs or coil over suspension. The bottom is dropped 2 inches from stock to help protect an extended sump oil pan. Be warned that it will give you 2 inches less ground clearance.

I'd take this time to do a front end rebuild since you'll have a ton of it off already. Smile

If you rare looking for a front suspension rebuild, the best place to go is your local napa dealer. I'll find the post that I made, with a list of parts that I got from Brandon. It had part numbers for every part needed.
