Does anyone know if I'll do any damage to the Trans/Converter by not locking it up?

Putting the C950 on, has no lockup. The cheapest kit is like $80 and I'm trying to save for school and a T56 here!

I know people say you'll loose a mpg or two, but I just need the things to be a bit reliable right now and not lean pop! LOL

Could probably run one off the ALDL port. Not sure if that goes to the computer itself, or not. I think it should. Might have to do some rewiring that way. But then you have to remember to turn it on/off when you're on the freeway, and coming off the free way. heh

Stalled the s10 a few times that way. BOGGED down 2nd gear so bad it didn't get a chance to switch to first before it died lol.

the c950 run with a lockup or non lockup from the factory??

I know that on some GM trany's you have to modify the front oil pump when you put a non lockup torque converter in because of the oiling to the tail shaft.

If you've got a good transmission cooler you can run without lockup. I think what Scott is talking about is using a non lockup convertor in a lockup trans. You're using the right convertor but just not activating the clutch. I've seen a cheap and easy way to wire in a switch to activate the lockup. If I can find it i'll post the info.

Ok.. looks like here's the home brew method. People are using a manual switch, brake switch, and a vacuum switch(GM number is 14014519). The manual switch arms the clutch, the brake switch disengages it when you stop(like the cruise) and the vacuum switch disengages it when you have to step on the gas in traffic.

I was just going to suggest this method. My dad did it to his 'velle when he put the 700r4 in it.

C950 is fuel and spark only.

Nice idea with the brake/vacuum/arm swtiches! I'll look into it!
