So guys. I may need some crewbie support.
The guy in the cube next to me at work, has his pilots liscense. We were talking today about the Plane vs. Car race done by Top Gear (the TV show in the UK).
We descided we should race, him in his Cesna vs the Camaro. The plan is to both leave from a central location in Portland, I hop in my car, and head straight towards seattle. He will have to use public transit to get to the airport, then do his pre-flight check. The first one to show up at the Air Museum at Payne field will be the winner.
We are still working on all the timing, rules etc. We figure this would be awsome to film, and possibly send in to the TV show in England, and see if they will air our segment.
So I may try to get some help from the crewbies, to maybe get a chase car to follow me up there, and film, and such.
Should be fun, we just have to work everything out. _________________

Nothing that say's I have to. But I am a MRA.
The key is, between time to get to the airport, pre-flight checks, runway clearance, taxi time, etc. I figure I will have a 1-1.5 hour head start on him.

More importantly, are you racing for slips?
We could really use a Crewbie Plane. Nothing like having a plane to bar hop in fellas.
Oh, and dewey, why don't you go post this on thirdgen.org

If you need a little extra "umph" you know where to get it
This is a sick idea, probably gunna have to wait a few months for weather to clear out. Dont really want to risk the harsh weather conditions on the ground, or in the air. |

They lowered the speed limit on that 2 lane stretch of I5 between cowlitz and centralia or wherever that ends. Like 60mph now. They're supposed to widen that whole stretch to 3 lanes in starting in a year.. so our brilliant people decided to lower the limit a whole year in advance so that we "get used to it"
I'm not sure if its the whole stretch or just part of it.. but it was in the local paper in december.. started on like the 20th i think. |
