well,
The day we ordered the stealth ram intake, a ditch and a few trees decided to jump out in front of my kids car.

Thank God no one was hurt, and that I wasn't driving.

My kid was.
turned out of a driveway, it was wet out, got a little loose, throttle stuck open a bit, (it happened to me a few weeks ago, I checked it out and didn't find anything wrong) and bam, down a 4 foot drop off and into some fir trees, not 50 feet from the driveway,
Hole passenger side, looks like crinkled tin foil.

Wind shield is busted bad, the windshield pillar is bent,
The only thing that bothers me is that pillar.

Must be cut out and a new section welder in.
Needs new front passenger fender and a partial new rear fender.
door may be OK, fixable

So what do you think?
If I do it all my self what will it cost?

Ya, its a bummer.
kids pretty upset.
Important thing is no one got hurt.
I told him, Hey, its just a car! He was sick, not a good night.

Glad to hear no one was hurt, that is always the important part. As you said it is only a car.

Depending on the work, it might be cheaper to pick up a new shell, and drop you motor/tranny in it. You can likely find a very nice body and interior, with a blown motor, for $500 or less.

Sounds like you guys put a lot of work into her to get to this point. Hopefully you'll be able to bring her back.

Yep, lots of work in her.
My son was so sick .
It was his baby.

he is very upset.

He went to the wrecking yard to price fenders.

But Iam sure it will need a frame rack to put a new front window pillar on, so everything lines up right, with the t-tops and all.

I think he would be better off with a different car, if I can talk him into it I guess I will have mine. Wrecked but fixable, lots of work for an old man like me.
But I'll do it if he gets another one.
Sure wish I could have that engine but there is no way in he## he will let that happen. LOL.


At least we can laugh about it at this point.

I still want to dyno it if its safe to drive to Portland, will no more this week.
Its just an incredible eye sore.

Glad to hear he turned up allright! That is a major bummer, you guys JUST got that car running right too

If you can post pictures of the damage we can pretty well tell if the frame's bent (in most cases it is).

I agree with John, finding a nice looking rolling chassis will probably end up costing you less.

I dont know if the junkyard will let you section out parts of their cars (I know my local u-pull wouldnt let me bring in a sawzall lol)

Then you'll need to get a new nose, fender, any suspension parts that got bent, put it on a frame rack (just to do that costs a lil cash, then you gotta have it fixed lol), new windshield, windshield trim....

as you can see, you'll spend way more than 500 dollars (and a lot more labor extensive) if you try fixing it yourself. It's probably best to take your motor and trans out, find either a cheap v6 in good condition, or a blown v8 rolling chassis. I'd also find a whole new throttle body so you dont have to worry about sticking throttles anymore.

With the 6 atleast you have all the parts readily available to swap over so it wont really cost you that much, just be a bit more labor intensive.


Again, glad no one was hurt, I feel sorry for your son, he must feel pretty guilty... but just see it as a blessing in disguise... you'll probably find a rockin' shell to put the motor and tranny in and it'll be better than before

i have a fender, electric window door, iroc hood, nose & maybe other parts you guys can have for free if you wanna pick it up in Spokane, as shipping would kill ya $$$ wise

but id prolly have to agree with the others, it would be easier & prolly cheaper to get a new body (i did), but then again if its his first car, he may wanna keep her (i recall reading an article about a guy & his 1st car a 73 or so roadrunner, thats been totalled twice & hes rebuilt her twice & doesnt regret it a moment)

How hard would it be to reset front passanger pillar post for windshield.
this one is moved and bend about 1/2 at base.
