Awesome
Leaves you with a lot of possibilities. What are you dreaming of at the moment?
I may need to get some tips from you. You got a good deal... I seem to enjoy full retail for some reason

Well you came to the right place to bench race it Should be fun for you. Having the awesome cornering of a thirdgen is even better when you have the kind of power that they should have had from the factory behind it

You know, I've got a 4 bolt 350 roller cam motor out of a 90 caprice cop car I bought for $450, along with a heavy duty 700R4. The engine is set up for an oil cooler, and is complete. Easy rebuild and drop into my car. But...........I'll have to go bigger injectors, different chip, more gas down the drain.
I'm seriuosly considering rebuilding the 305 when it finally gives up the ghost. I know gas prices are somewhat down now (that's if you can call $2.19 per gallon down). I have a feeling that the gas companies got us used to almost $3 per gallon this year, and it will probably go higher next year. I just can't afford to give away the 22mpg I'm getting with my car for the power I can only use now and then. I know...........hard to belive I'm saying this, but I have to eat and pay rent first, play second.
Just consider how much each mod will cost you in gas milage. I've got a few minor mods on my motor, but for some odd reason it all works together, peanut cam and all. I like the idea of more power, but............my wallet says no! |

| Hmm unless you're romping on it, I always heard the 305 and 350 tpi motors were comperable on gas milage.... My 350 with comp XE262 cam got better milage pig rich than my factory 305 did. |

I got 11 in the city with my cc carb (that needed rebuilt badly) and a lame cam. What's the secret? lol.
Hoping to get around 16 - 18mpg in the city with my new motor .
Kidcamaro whether you want TPI or Carb depends on how much downtime you can have for the car really. If you go to Scott in wa's thread about Prom tuning, you'll see the nightmares first hand on a engine swap with TPI.
But carb wont get you as good gas mileage, so do you want to think short term, or long term? I would go TPI if it isnt your daily driver.
If you have some good castings on those heads you got, PM me if you want 'em ported. I can cut you a crewby deal. |

I'm not sure what the secret is with my car. I changed the rear diff to synthetic, that gained me 1/2 mpg. Then just went to 0-30 mobil 1 in the engine and gained 1.6 mpg with that. Already had synthetic in my trans. I also drive with an egg under my foot, and time the lights as much as possible.
This car has always gotten good milage. I remember a trip to calif we went on and got 29.808 mpg. I just can't afford to screw with this combo. I've followed the 350 swap chip problems that scott has had, so if this one goes, I'll just .030 over the motor, freshen the heads up, and put it back together. It's my daily driver. My other choice is my 468 ci rat motored pickup at 8 mpg. I want the power like anyone else, but just can't see screwing up this combination. So, I play with the handling stuff and brakes, no mileage loss there. |

| it is a daily driver, but im not worried about gas prices. the way i see it, gas is just part of the cost of owning a car. id rather drive a car i want and spend a bit more in gas then something i hate to drive to save a few bucks. the guy told me one set of the heads where from a gm goodwrench rebuilt motor. not sure which though. ill get some picks after xmas. i got my wife a digi cam. im gonna clean them up and get numbers off them and the block. |
