hey ya'll,
got a question for you guys about what the exact diffrences are between the 2 engines. now i know that the block size is the same between the two. i also know that you cannot make a 305 into a 350 by boring it out and what not, but why is this so?
thanks _________________

350 = 4" x 3.48"
305 = 3.735" x 3.48"
The external dimentions are the same, but internally besides bore size I'm not sure exactly. I bet Brandon can fill in the blanks though. _________________ '88 Formula

| Same stroke but cranks are weighted different to make up for the different size pistons. Also usually the rods are just slightly lighter in the 305. The reason you cant bore a 305 to a 350 is that the cylinder walls arent thick enough. If you bore the 305 out to 350 size you'll hit water, or the walls will be so thin the combustion will just break them. |
