I've been to almost every year's CART race at PIR (used to be the GIJoes 200) and all the old IMSA races/"Rose Cup" races back when IMSA was great. I have seen the race from almost every spot around the track over the years.
I am relieved that there will be a 2005 CART race at PIR. For a long time it was in doubt.
Now for a challange... Can anyone guess who's car this painting depicts?

The late and the great Ayrton Senna... I dunno what it depicts though, him kicking some major ass obviously. _________________

I'm down. I usualy show up for the 200.
I really enjoy the ALMS weekend (mid July sometime i beleive), I think the racing the whole weekend is better.)
The Rose Cup (SCCA Amatures), is always really great close racing, and there is almost no-one there, so you can sit where every you want.
I usualy make all the 'big' racing weekends. |

It was more fun back in the old days when it was IMSA, SCCA, etc. all on that weekend. Lots of attendance back then.

It was diffrent. If you like, racing, for the racing, not the big name drivers, or the expensive cars... then the current rose cup is the best we have. The racing is ALWAYS close and clean. I'm a fan of watching a good close, well driven race, regardless of if its in cars, trucks, lawnmowers, or bathtubs on wheels. That is the big appeal of the rose cup, for me. 1) I like to go show support for the guys running there. They dont' get paid, and they don't get much support. 2) it really is the closest and some of the most exciting racing you can go watch. |
