| So I hooked up gauge and pressuere regulator. It is a Mr gasket brand. Anyways , so now gauge reads a steady 4.76 psi though it could be off. But it is steady. Before it was jumping from 5 to 15 very rapidly. But now when I step on it it has a stutter then goes up in Roma smoothly in park. But under load it wants to bog down. Was a little hard to test well because of rain. But looking for expertise at what's going on and how much psi do I need? |

Depends on carb. Holley is 6psi, Edelbrock is four I think.
Tip in bog is poor tuning of the distributor or the carb. |

Qjet is about 3.5PSI. According to a 10second google search.
Do you still have the computer controlled quadrajet on that engine?! _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| No not computer controlled. And of it was at 3.5 it seems it would be starving for fuel. |

Need a better description of "starving for fuel." Like Aaron said, tip it can be other issues. WOT bog can be other issues. Was it doing this before you started adding random gauge/regulator crap? Where's the original regulator? You put a carb pickup in, did you put a mechanical pump on? _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I think what I got out of that jibberish, is that you have a bad regulator or you plumbed it wrong. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| Plumbed right. One way in. One way out. So must be bad regulator. |

| Mr. Gasket cheapie. Adjustable by a big knob up to 5.5 psi. I was looking at other types. But they seem a little more involved. I am just for the most part trying to address the little issues before I do my head swap. |

| My bad. I didnt put on pump or install pickup. Was on car when I got it. It bogged every now and then at higher rpms between secon and third gear before. Never had a regulator on it. I wasn't going to put one on it untill I saw gauge that I pit on move around so much between 5 and 15 psi, I think. Moved so fast , hard to tell what numbers the needle was landing on. |

What pump does it have now? Mechanical? Inline? Intank?
Mechanical pumps do their work based on rpm, so at idle it will bounce.
Inline pumps if it's a plunger type acts the same way.
Intank vein pumps deliver a consistant pressure.
Does your regulator have 3/8" in/out and subsequent line of 3/8" size?
Did you have a return system before plumbing this cheap stuff in? _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

| It's a mechanical. Not sure of brand. The regulator has screw in barb fittings. So the ones I have on it are the ones for the 3/8 rubber lines. The me chanical pump has a provision for a return line so i hooked it up to the stock return line. |

You don't use a regulator with a mechanical pump unless for some reason you are getting "too much" pressure from the mechanical. The regulator is likely inhibiting volume. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |
