I'm going to be doing the V8 swap on my S15 soon. For going to drop my 305 out of the Bird into it for now and i was wondering how hard it would be to keep the tb set up or if i should just get a carb intake and but on it. Any help will me much appreciated.
Oh and for those who don't know its a 83 2.8 carbed 5 speed that cant get out of its own way at the moment |

Keeping it is easy. Just bat power, ign power, grounds. High pressure fuel pump/lines. Move the rest over.
You've got a carbed truck, easier to keep carbed.
If you wanted to swap to TBI, easiest way is with a TBI 4.3L truck. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

Carb is cheaper, but TBI wouldn't be that hard. Just need the engine harness from your bird, and the intank pump from a TBI truck. Bed comes off with two guys, and the tank is right there.
I'd tend to agree with Paul, though. I went from a 2.8L 2bl 4-speed to a 3.1L 4bl 5-speed in a weekend working by myself. Those trucks are stupid easy, and parts for them just about grow on trees. |

YES. Need high pressure lines. Not sure how yours is, but the ones I've worked on have hard lines that run through the k-member and produce nipples for rubber lines on the other side.
Atleast need fuel injection fuel line and properly sized fuel injection line hose clamps. _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

thanks guys, I'm hoping to get this soon. I'm thinking I'll just keep it carbed, and swap out my rubber lines with fuel injection hoses. Any more points of advice will be taken into concern, anyone that has done the swap hit me up with some pointers and short cuts ? I've already got a set of Headman Headers that are needed for the swap just need to get my motor mounts on order and an intake manifold. With my 89 305 tbi do i need any special intake to carb it or is it the same as all the other SBC ? |

You need the later 87+ style intake.
And you'll need an electric fuel pump. The FI motors don't have provisions on the camshaft to drive a mechanical fuel pump.
Is this an auto or stick?
Please. Buy the Jags That Run V8 S-10 book.
Save yourself 100000 questions, and see pictures.
Like how you're going to need a corevette radiator and move it under the core support, and use a moroso remote fill . _________________ A redline a day keeps the carbon away! |

I'm still trying to locate that book for under $60, will my spare FBody rad work ? I was planing on using an electric fan and placing it as far forward as passable, or will i need to find a Vette rad ? |
