Hehe... can't really call it a COE anymore, can they? Laughing

That is a GM metric transaxle for sure. GMC ran a plate to adapt those motors to an SBC bell, so it probably wasn't to hard for them to just make a different plate. I know I'd be real nervous about running an engine with that much torque through that small of a trans, especially with unequal axle shafts. In a ride that light it may not matter though.

That rear end looked like an explosion waiting to happen with the torque of that beast. But as you say, other then the motor there's no weight there.

In a truck like that I would have expected to see a V-drive and 1-ton axle along the lines of what this guy did:

You still have the unequal length axles, but that Sterling can take much more abuse.

Does anyone remember that fwd ford super duty truck that was modded to be a motorcycle hauler a few years ago? I remember it floating about the interwebs. The rear diff and associated stuff was yanked to make a lower bed for bikes. This is like the opposite of that. Cool stuff either way.
